Why did the door not slam shut when it was first opened then? Gerry saw Maddie on top of her bed when he claimed he looked in on her. IMO the one and only physical check he did that  week. What a coincidence. He also said later that he 'felt' the abductor was in the apartment- so  no blowing. whooshing for him  then. and what about the Matt Check- nope all was quiet.. did he give a measurement of the door at all when he held his ear to it? I can't recall.
The next windy day see if you can get a door to slam shut.

I don't know why Gerry found it absolutely necessary to do his visit so soon after Matt returned at 9pm but he must have had his reasons, though it can't have been to do with the quality of Matt's checking as he was quite content for Matt to go instead of Kate later.

How does one open the shutters from the outside?  I've seen them lifted up manually from the outside but they then fall down as soon as you let them go.

The next windy day see if you can get a door to slam shut.

If I have my front door open and someone walks through my back door, my front door slams shut.

There does need to be another wind source.

It is only a theory and Gerry said he didn't mind people having theories.
And besides it seems obviously flawed for you can't hold the shutters up from the outside.

OK in that situation you can get the front door to slam even when it is quite open for there is a full gust of wind through the house.  That happens.  What happens if there is little to no breeze?

It's called Air Pressure.

It is more than air pressure for there is always air pressure.  What I was trying to get at was on a quiet day the front door would not slam but if you closed it and left it agar it might still close in a very gentle breeze.

When both of my doors are open it changes the air pressure, as the back door opens you are pushing air forward.  It doesn't have to be windy or breezy, I suppose it acts like a vacuum.

No... It slammed shut because  of the open window

You need at least two open doors/windows. IMO

The first thing that Kate would see as she opened the door was the small corner of the foot of Madeleines bed; she would not see Madeleine until she stepped into the room and could see round the wall.

Before seeing Madeleine, she would see the Twins cots.  You, Robin insisted that Kate would see Madeleine (herself) before she swaw the Twins.  That is not true IMO.  Please would you amend your posts.

Thank you in anticipation

ETA:   I find that I am responding to you, Pathfinder.  What you say is not incorrect, but it is only half the story and gives a different perspective because of that.

The response above is aimed at Robin Banks who has it all wrong IMO

How could she see the Baby in the brown cot, it's behind the bedroom door.

No it isn't.

Well where would you say it was situated?

I agree. The door would need to be fairly well open for the brown cot to be seen clearly, unless the viewer poked head through the gap between door and frame
