I hope we can get a link of this in the next few days, it looks as though it could be very helpful in the search for the child.
Unedited images of what happened on the fateful night of the 3rd of May of 2007, at the Ocean Club resort.
by: Paulo João Santos
CMTV (channel 8 on MEO) presents tomorrow, between 21h15 and 22h15, an unpublished programme dedicated to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann: the reconstitution of the evening of the 3rd of May of 2007, the last time the British child was seen alive in Praia da Luz, in Lagos.
The trip to the Ocean Club, the resort where the McCann family was staying, lasts eight minutes, during which viewers will have the opportunity to follow, with rigour, what happened that evening when the little girl, then aged three, disappeared from the room where she was sleeping with her twin siblings.
The reconstitution of the fateful evening of the disappearance involved 10 actors and was carried out at three different locations. It is the result of two weeks of work, with four days and two nights of recording. It involves unpublished images that were taken inside the apartment at the Ocean Club. It's the first time a television will show the scene of the crime that took place in the Algarve.
The 'Maddie Special' also gathers four reports about the most striking moments of the investigation - which recently suffered a new impulse - and a debate with the personalities that followed all the incidents of the case step by step: Gonçalo Amaral, the inspector who was responsible for the investigation; and Rui Pereira, then the minister of Internal Affairs. The conversation will also have the participation of criminal psychologist Maria do Sameiro and Moita Flores, a university professor and former PJ inspector.

Hopefully in a few days we can have a decent discussion on its findings etc......

Thank you....I hope someone records it....well well, PT were refused to broadcast Crimewatch, seems they are doing one of their own now....
Should be interesting to see

Is there any link to this programme now?

Is there any link to this programme now?
Hi not yet it will be soon. From snippets from friends who were up late last night looking and talking to a few in Portugal who watched it there was a lot of talk about how much wine was consumed at the table from till receipts, David Payne, the darkness, and the dogs.
Its sounds very interesting and is like night and day to crimewatch programme. It appears the CMTV programme holds no punches and says it like it REALLY happened.
I am taking diazepam to keep me calm lol...
We shall see.

Isn't this just basically a non-official reconstruction - albeit apparently based more on the police files than the crimewatch one? Any channel can put together a reconstruction but without any kind of official angle (i.e. this is the one the PJ re-investigative force is putting forward as their take on things) it's just entertainment and nothing more meaningful?

I've not seen it (no TV), but I'm afraid it is a pseudo infotainment, the only interesting point being it there's only a room or not for an abductor. Gonçalo Amaral and Moita Flores were interviewed, but we know all what they know.

It's a non official reconstruction. It's a TV Show, equivalent to Crime Watchers, made in record time by a private TV channel, after the BBc refused to release the original crimewatchers in Portugal - although this channel was never interested in the BBC version.
They made a reconstitution based on the original PJ files, different from the first one but, in any case non liable because they feature exactly what was released by the Attorney General's PJ files.

Yes i was told it was the equivalent to the CW in the UK, and that they were using the PJ files....the ones some people have decided to ignore lol...

a reconstruction in real time would be interesting.

Please give us some evidence for your claim that the BBC refused to release the Crimewatch reconstruction in Portugal or are you just making it up?

The Portugal News, October 17 2013 said:
The Deputy Director of News at SIC Television was meanwhile reported to have exchanged e-mails with the BBC in the days running up to the Crimewatch programme in order to secure the rights to the full programme, but to no avail.
“The BBC said they are not selling the rights”, Martim Cabral told The Portugal News, “therefore we cannot show it.”
Another Portuguese news channel, TVI, told The Portugal News that it had contacted the British national broadcaster prior to the airing of the show, as it sought to “acquire the programme for Portugal, which was denied.”

Oh oh is that the collective NOT decision of all pros to not post on this board again as posted on the board last night then deleted by mods and then pmd to us all before his banning, by the troll debunker unsolicted like? Yep...good riddance.......to intimidatiry rubbish and lies...lost his perpetually failing mission so b....red off......
OK its obvious to all sentient rational beings Portugal was prevented from airing crimewatch......another stone unturned....from a place a big stone could have come from, I suppose they think Germans Brits or Irish hold the key to the puzzle wierd case isnt it.......

Worth a read.
Matt Oldfield
And we were all there, apart from Dave and Fiona and Fiona's mother, Dianne, at sort of five to nine, and they were, they were always sort of fairly relaxed and sort of a bit late and disorganised, I mean, that's a bit unfair, but they were certainly, they'd always be pretty much the last to arrive, they were always late for most things and you could see the light on in their apartment, you could see it from the Tapas and you could see them moving around so you knew they were still there. And so I decided that I'd go back and short of chivvy them along, because I felt a bit bad that, you know, there's just us in this restaurant, as there had been most of the week, there weren't often, erm, on one night they had a quiz and there were a few sort of more tables, erm, around that were occupied, but most of the time it was just us and I felt a bit bad that we said we'd be there at half eight and, you know, it was getting later and later and it was now coming to nine and we hadn't even got the table there to get ready to order, but by this time in the week we knew what we were going to order, so I told Rach, you know, I'll have whatever it was, I think it was, erm, probably sardines because, you know, they were pretty good, erm, so I put my order in for her to order if the waiter came back and went to try and sort of chivvy them along. But as I was leaving the Tapas area, you know, and their light going off and knowing that they were coming down and on their way, and on my way up, about at that top corner before you turn left to get round the back, as you go up the top of the hill, we sort of passed on the way down and they were on their way to the restaurant, but it seemed a bit silly not to go ahead and just sort of check on G****, even though we'd only been down there about fifteen minutes, but that was sort of a convenient time to go and do it. So I went and listened, I went, I found the time, because we'd only just been in there about fifteen minutes ago, and I just listened outside her shutters, so I just passed along that wall that goes to the two, sort of to the McCANN's apartment, so I listened outside our shutters and went along to their shutter and had a listen out there, not because I'd been asked to, but, or it's not the sort of thing you think about, it's just kind of, erm,".
4078 "You thought you might as well?"
Reply "So I thought I might as well and I can report back and they can be, you know, be reassured that everything was okay. And we talked a lot in the previous interviews about what state the shutters were in, whether they were, and they were all definitely down, there's three shutters, you know, there's, you know, two, and they're all at the same level, there was no, I would have noticed if they were, if one was up and the rest were down, it would have looked odd".
4078 "And how long would you have listened for outside that particular window?"
Reply "Erm, five or ten seconds".
4078 "It is long enough, presumably, for you to have stood still, so that you weren't making a noise yourself?"
Reply "Yeah, you'd have been fairly comfortable that you'd have heard somebody if they were sort of crying or sort of whimpering".
4078 "And did you notice anybody else around?"
Reply "No, there was nobody, you don't, you can't see the doorway from that point because it's round a, you have to go round the corner, so not into that, I didn't go into that area, but I didn't hear anything, I didn't see anything".
4078 "Okay. So what sort of time was it when you did that listening check outside Madeleine's room?"
Reply "Well this would have been, I'd have set off about five to nine or just before nine, and so that round trip would have taken me three or four minutes maybe, because on this occasion I didn't go into our apartment, so it was just walk up, sort of ten or twenty seconds outside the two shutters and then back round".
4078 "Do you remember what the weather was like then?"
Reply "Erm, it wasn't, erm, not specifically, it was a better day on the Thursday than it was on the Wednesday, because we had rain, and I think it was sort of warmer and bit more clear, I don't remember the, it may have been a bit cloudy, but I don't remember specifically".
4078 "Okay".
Reply "I think the moon was out later on so, I had the impression that the moon was out later on, so it may not have been, it may have been more clear".
4078 "And you said it was just turning dark?"
Reply "Yeah".
4078 "But it was turning dark. I am just trying to sort of illustrate whether there was any light on that area, if you would have been able to see if it was?"
Reply "Well it wasn't murky, I mean, you were close to the shutters, they're sort of white and they're lined, I think it'd be fairly obvious if there was a dark gap along the bottom, if they'd been raised particularly".
4078 "Okay. So take me through from there then, what happened after that?"
Reply "So, erm, back to the table, erm, we have, oh, back to the table, Gerry got up to go and, to go and check on his kids, I mean, and I'd come back and said, you know, I didn't hear any noise when I listened outside your room, so I thought it was a little bit odd that, you know, not kind of a wounded pride that he sort of didn't trust me, but, erm, I just thought, oh, you know, I've just checked you don't really need to check and sort of, you know, sort of go back, but, erm, he sort of got up and went back to check on, erm, on his kids. But, you know, you don't, you know, we're all sort of responsible for our own children and you wouldn't sort of say, you know, you don't need to do that, I just sort of felt, oh I've listened, you don't need to do that because I've kind of just done it, but I hadn't gone into the apartment, so, erm".
4078 "Did you actually say that or you just thought that to yourself?"
Reply "Yeah, I thought that, you know, I'd said that everything was sort of quiet, I listened outside the shutters, but, you know, they went back up, erm, and said he was going to check. Erm, I know that Jane went, erm, went up, and I think that's because E*** had been, I think E*** had not been well that morning and I think that's, I can't remember whether she had any breakfast, but I don't think she'd been particularly well that morning, or she was sort of a bit off colour not sort of being particularly unwell, but maybe, I think the kids hadn't settle particularly well and that's why they, erm, Russell and Jane had come separately in the evening, and so she went back, erm, to check on, presumably to check on, to check on her kids and then came back and we, erm, had starters by then".
4078 "Okay. So Gerry has gone off almost straight away after you got back?"
Reply "Yeah".
Jane Tanner
4078 “Backtrack a little. How long after Gerry had gone was it before you went to do your check?”
Reply “Well I think it must have been, well it must have been at least five minutes, if not more, because, I say, because he was gone, before I actually left there had been the conversations about him being waylaid. So, I mean, if, I think it must have been sort of five or ten minutes, five or ten minutes after he’d gone. I can’t say for sure, but”.
Reply “Yeah. Erm, I’m just trying to, well I’ve walked out of the, walked out of the, erm, the Tap, you know, walked sort of into the reception of the Tapas Bar and obviously walked up the road. I remember I was wearing, because it was cold, I’d got Russell’s big, I’d borrowed one of his, erm, fleeces, so I’d got a big sort of fleece, it probably came down to about here, but then I’d got flip-flops on and cropped trousers, because I’d only got, I didn’t take jeans, I know I didn’t take jeans on holiday, and then. Oh I’m sidetracking a bit, but that’s why I knew one of the pictures in the paper wasn’t from the holiday, because I hadn’t got jeans on the holiday with me, so. Erm, yeah, and I’d got cropped trousers on and just flip-flops, so I can remember sort of walking, I couldn’t walk that quickly because I’d got these silly flip-flops on and I couldn’t walk that, that well in them, so to speak. Erm, and I walked, I was walking up the road and I can’t remember exactly, I know this, I know, I think Gerry thinks he was somewhere different to where I think they were standing, but I was fairly sure, as I walked up the road, they were standing, one of them was in the road and one of them was just on the edge of the pavement, but I thought it was on the side of the road that I was walking, but I know Gerry thinks they were the other side. But I thought they were closer by, because as I walked by, I almost did go to sort of acknowledge them and I thought at that point ‘Oh they were cha cha cha’ and I did think, you know, I didn’t, I didn’t know whether they’d seen me or not, but I did actually go to acknowledge them and I think if they’d have been that far away I don’t know whether I would have sort of almost gone to say hello, but. But they were talking quite (inaudible), so I just carried on, you know, up, up the road. I mean, I thought they were, as you’re going up here, I thought they were more, erm, again I know this is where me and Gerry differ, but I thought they were sort of more near the little alleyway. I think sort of”.
4078 “Is that the alleyway, sorry, would that be (inaudible)?”
Reply “Yeah, sort of here. I thought they were sort of round this sort of bit here”.
4078 “Yeah, so on the plan that you have drawn can you put a cross where you”.
Reply “Yeah”.
4078 “I know you are uncertain because you think Gerry’s recollection is different, but as far as you can remember”.
Reply “Well I think one of them was in the road and I think, I thought it was Jez in the road because he had the pram. And I don’t know which, I can’t remember which way he was facing. No, I mean, I think I remember in my statement I did say, but I can’t remember now which way he was facing. And I thought Gerry was almost like on the edge of the pavement or just, just in the road sort of, but definitely sort of by that, sort of more by this alleyway. I don’t think they were by the apartment gate, I thought they were sort of a bit further down, down the road than that”.
4078 “So where would the apartment gate be then?”
Reply “Probably here I should think”.
4078 “And that would lead down to the roadside door of their apartment or the poolside door of their apartment?”
Reply “That leads to the poolside door”.
4078 “Right. So you think they were quite a bit further down?”
Reply “I think, yeah, I mean, somewhere within this, I don’t think they were right outside the gate for sure. I don’t, I’m not sure, but they were definitely, I definitely can’t remember them being right over here, purely because I know I did go to acknowledge them and I don’t think if they were over there I would have thought to acknowledge them. Because it was almost like ‘Oh did I ignore them as I walked past’, you know, it was almost that thought in my head, you know, ‘Should I have stopped to say hello’. And now obviously I wished I bloody had. But, you know, sort of, so I think, I, I’m still convinced they were nearer to that side of the road than that side of the road”.
4078 “So you come out of the Tapas Bar and presumably you have walked along that way, have you?”
Reply “Yeah, I’ve come out here, through the gate”.
4078 “And that is up the hill, is it?”
Reply “And up the hill, yeah”.
4078 “And when you have gone past Gerry and Jez whereabouts have they been in relation to you?”
Reply “If I’m walking this way, they were sort of”.
4078 “So they were to your right?”
Reply “Yeah”.
4078 “Okay. Go on”.
Reply “So, yeah, so I went past them, erm, up to the, and then walking up to the top of the road and then, as I got to the top, this person, somebody walked across the top of the road with, with a child. And obviously at that point I just thought ‘Oh it’s somebody taking their kid to bed’, so to speak”.
4078 “What about other people, what other noises?”
Reply “No, I mean, there was no, apart from Gerry, well apart from Gerry and Jez there was nobody else around. And I think when you went down to the, often when we went down to the, erm, Tapas Bar there was people then because it was earlier and I think a lot of people had said we’re eating earlier, so were often going home almost as we were coming down, so you would see people walking around then, whereas, as it got later, it did turn into more sort of a ghost town type, so. So, yeah, I didn’t really see anybody. I’d say, I think, again, which made me thought it was even odder, I think when I’d been to check other nights at that time I probably hadn’t seen anybody before, it was more earlier that you saw people carrying their children around”.
4078 “What time would this have been around?”
Reply “I’d say it was around ten past nine’ish”.
Jeremy Wilkins
We returned to our apartment. We decided to spend the evening-in, watching television. Our son was awake and unable to sleep. I decided to take him for a walk in his pram. I left about 8.15 pm – 8.30 pm. I was pushing the pram around the complex and went to the toilet near the bar. I couldn't see inside the restaurant. As I got the baby to sleep, I was on my way back to the apartment. I came out of the top road. I met him near some stairs and a ground floor flat.
There was a gate leading up to some stairs. I was pretty certain that he had left the apartment. We spoke for a few minutes. He said 'you're on walking duty'. I said I was staying in and the pro's and con's and what to do with the children. He said that if he was staying two (2) weeks, he may stay in one night. I don't remember anyone else walk past with a child. The conversation lasted for about three (3) to five (5) minutes. He was acting completely normal from what I know of him so far.
I then walked back to the apartment. I had dinner, watched a DVD and went to bed at about 11 pm.
The doorbell woke us up at about 1 am. It was the resort manager who I knew to be John and one of Jerry's friends. I think his name was Matt. He is white, slim, tall with greying hair. From previous conversations I knew him to be a diabetic specialist. We met him on the plane on the way to the destination. Matt said words to the effect that Jerry's daughter had been abducted, and that Jerry said he had seen me and wanted to know if I had seen anything. I said 'You're joking'. I offered help but they said there was nothing that could be done at that stage. We remained in the apartment but could see people around the pool and at the front with torches. I also saw the police arriving. We then went to bed.

MADELEINE MCCANN'S parents are “baffled” why a Crimewatch appeal to help find their missing daughter will not be shown in Portugal.
Broadcasters in the country where Maddie disappeared have declined to screen the TV special, which will be aired in the UK, Holland and Germany next week.

Hardly the same...the facts have obviously been spun so much a seasoned dervish would collapse!
Thanks WS, that and the link I put earlier is so much nearer the truth.....rather than those evil Portuguese, not only did they say "why should we reopen the investigation" but also recently said " no we wont broadcast crimewatch"

There is no big secret......that channdl is small and not available to everyone in Portugal.....so its not a case of what happens usually.....

I gather the show was an hour long, maybe someday someone who did record it all will post it.....

So the only evidence appears to be that one news article from an inconsequential newspaper states that the BBC were not selling the rights and that the PT TV companies were not able to show it because the BBC would not sell it and another article where it is suggested that the UK police are baffled as to why the PT TV companies were not showing the programme.
No proof of anything. I am afraid that I don't take one article from one tiny little newspaper journalist as proof of the BBC doing anything. A direct quote maybe would have been impressive but none was available on either front.
If people wish to rely on unsubstantiated news articles which prove nothing then that is their business.
Having made the programme available to stations in other parts of Europe perhaps someone could explain why the BBC would then refuse to let it be used in Portugal. It makes no sense whatsoever.
And as for a boycott, I am unaware of any such move but I could understand it. It is rather pointless posting when so many posts simply vanish for no apparent reason.

A good question. It always puzzles me as to why programmes such as this are not shown by the media which produce them on their own sites when they are supposedly trying to do something useful with the content.
Perhaps it will appear some day?

"Well, again, I mean, and this is….. I think initially I couldn’t really bring, I could only really remember the feet. But the day after, when we had, they, at the interview, the person that was interviewing was really pushing me to try and, you know, remember any more details, and the one thing that I could really think was, erm, a turn-up of some description." (JT)
I think Jane Tanner may have went the lane way round to the front of the apartment and saw Tannerman's feet crossing the road from that distance away. Jeremy Wilkins was certain that she didn't pass them. And her above recollection is not convincing at all?

So we have gone full circle then...which is good. I remember from the beginning she said she couldnt remember much about what or who she saw and did not even know if it was a child been carried...which would make sense, as it was dark at the time....

In her statements JT says quite clearly that she saw a man carrying child - and that the first thing which struck her on seeing the child was the bare feet - because it was quite a chilly night.
When did she say she 'didn't even know if it was a child being carried' plz?

Moita Flores – I understand, with some effort, but I understand that it’s a cultural trait that is different from ours, to leave children far away from the place where we are, and to enjoy ourselves until midnight, from 8.30, 9 p.m. until midnight. I find this hard to believe, for our Latin culture, in which the children are very directly controlled, I find this very difficult.
http://joana-morais.blogspot.com/2013/11/cmtv-maddie-case-special-and-rua-segura.html
This really bothers me. It isn't normal for British people to leave their children for hours on end to go out and have fun! They must think we're all terrible parents!

Absolutely agreed. And the constant "we've all done it", as well as being untrue, adds to this misconception and also bother me no end. All we can say is "No we haven't" (and then you risk being called "a perfect parent")
-
Well my dear its totally irrelevant because I would never HAVE LEFT MY CHILDREN IN THE FIRST PLACE, so non of this would be relevant.
Ask your self.
Your child is left each night you find out from the child that she had been awake crying a lot the night before.
What would you do?
a. Stay in that night
b. Give the child a mild sedative to help her settle, then go out?
How can you possibly tell me that it was good PARENTING to leave children alone like this even more so after the child was awake the night before. ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Tell me this.
The child was known to have sleeping problems, this is FACT. When you take children away on holiday they get very excited and this can make it very hard to settle them in the evening.
How can 3 children on the night of the 3rd be so SOUND ASLEEP non of them woke up even with a flat full of people?
Tell me how is this possible.
It isnt rocket science that think that perhaps the children were sedated to enable them to settle better. There is actually NOTHING wrong in that as long as it isnt abused.
Oh as to the sexually attracted then they need to sue The Gaspars who made that statement it wasnt Amaral who made that statement but doctor FRIENDS OF THE MCCANNS...Why would they do that?
No I wouldnt sue because it wouldnt have happened anyway.
Why are you preaching to me about the McCann's leaving their children?
I have said I wouldn't have done that.
The fact is the McCann's were not arrested for the disappearance of Madeleine, yet Amaral writes a book saying they are guilty.

Moita Flores seems to have forgotten about the checks, which makes it seem as if they were out for hours with no checks whatsoever. The Payne family was the only one that didn't make physical checks, but they seem to have felt confident in their baby monitor.

Gonçalo Amaral – It makes all kind of sense to even bring him, and the family, it’s 3 or 4 people more, to Portugal, even to understand how long they took after leaving the Dolphins restaurant, how long they remained in Kelly’s bar, because there is no payment, the payment was not made with a card, we found out the exact time of the payment, not the exit from the restaurant, through the payment, because the payment was made with a bank card. At the bar, it was made in cash, so we don’t know. We don’t know how long they took having their drinks. We don’t know at what time the sighting takes place. It would have been around ten, a bit earlier, a bit later, at around that time, we don’t know exactly at what time it was.
Has he forgotten that several members of the Smith family had already gone back to PT for a reconstruction in May 2007?

No, Gonçalo has not forgotten something that never happened. The Smith family made a statement to the PJ but they did not do any reconstruction.

Sorry, I assumed that the passage from Amaral's book indicated a reconstruction. "After their interview, they went back to the scene, accompanied by investigators. They indicate the precise place where they came across the man."
Isn't that a form of reconstruction? If not, why didn't he do one then?
A MAN WITH A CHILD IN HIS ARMS
May 3rd, after 9.27pm, Dolphin restaurant,
Vila da Luz
The Smiths, from Ireland, are spending their holiday in Praia da Luz. After having dinner at the restaurant, they go to Kelly's bar, 50 metres away. They leave there at around 9.55pm to go back to their apartment in Estrela da Luz, west of the Ocean Club, 300 metres further on. They don't stay late because the next morning one of them has to go back to Ireland. It's a big family, of four adults and five children: the father, aged 58, retired, and his wife; their 12 year-old daughter; their two grand-children aged 10 and 4 (their mother stayed in Ireland); their son accompanied by his wife - who is pregnant - and their two children aged 13 and 6.
They go in a northerly direction, the group spreading out; the children are never far away from the adults. There's nobody about. They climb a few steps to reach 25 de Abril street, cross it and turn left into 1 de Maio street, that runs along the west side of the Ocean Club. They haven't gone 30 metres when they come across a man walking up the middle of the road. He is carrying a child in his arms, head resting on his left shoulder. The Smiths don't see the face of the little girl, whose arms hang by her sides. She is dressed in pale-coloured, maybe pink, pyjamas; her feet are bare, she is white and she has blonde hair that covers her neck. The individual's appearance gives the impression that he is not a tourist. He is wearing cream-coloured or beige trousers, classic in style, perhaps linen or cotton. He is a white man, aged around 30 to 35, with no other distinguishing features: he is between 1.70m and 1.80m tall, is visibly in good physical condition; his brown hair is cut short, his face is tanned.
At this time, images of Robert Murat - considered to be the main suspect - begin to be circulated all over the world. After they return to Ireland, the Smiths continue to follow the case. They learn that, according to Jane Tanner's statements, Murat is definitely the man encountered on the night of the abduction. Mr Smith then gets in touch with the Irish police to relate what he saw on the night of May 3rd. He insists, categorically, that the man they came across with the little girl in his arms was not Robert Murat. He is sure of it because he knows him. With hindsight, he is utterly convinced that the little girl was definitely Madeleine. We secretly organise for the Smiths to come to Portugal. On May 26th, in the offices of the Department of Criminal Investigation in Portimão, we interview the father and his son. What they say seems credible. However, because of the dim street lighting, they say they would have a hard time formally recognising the man who was carrying the child. On the other hand, they describe very clearly how the man was holding the little girl and how he was walking. That scene is indelibly printed in their memory. After their interview, they went back to the scene, accompanied by investigators. They indicate the precise place where they came across the man.
Their coming to Portugal as well as their statements are kept secret. Within a few days, they go back to Ireland, but contact is maintained: they undertake to let us have any further details they remember. We finally have credible witness statements about that stranger who, on the night of May 3rd, was walking in the streets of Vila da Luz with a child in his arms.

Gonçalo Amaral – This family, which is not only one person, says that the person that they saw that night is a certain person. They say it is. Then they say it’s 80%. And then the e-fit – someone appears that looks like a certain person. While they never said it was a person that looked like Gerald McCann. The e-fit has that effect, the effect of devaluating the statement itself.
He forgets to mention that Martin's statement said 60-80% based on how Gerry carried Sean down from the plane, and that the only person who agreed with him was his wife (none of the rest of the party did).
I saw Gerard McCann (sic) going down the plane stairs carrying one of his children on 9th September 2007 BBC news at 10 PM, I have been shown the video clip by Sergeant Hogan which I recognise. A clip I have seen before on the Internet. In relation to the video clips of Gerard McCann and the person I saw on 3rd May 2007 when I saw the BBC news at 10 PM on 9th September 2007 something struck me that it could have been the same person. It was the way Gerard McCann turned his head down which was similar to what the individual did on 3rd May 2007 when we met him. It may have been the way he was carrying the child either. I would be 60-80% sure that it was Gerard McCann that I met that night carrying a child. I am basing that on his mannerism in the way he carried the child off the plane. After seeing the BBC news at 10 PM, footage on the 9th September 2007 I contacted Leicestershire police with this information. During that time I spoke to all my family members who were with me on the night of 3rd May 2007 about this and the only one who felt the same way as me was my wife. She had seen the video clip of Gerard McCann walking down the stairs of the plane earlier that day. We did not discuss this until some days later. This statement has been read over to me and is correct.
-
Aside from that, I thought he was only commenting on details up until when he left the case (2 October 2007).
The 60-80% statement relayed by fax by the Gardai is dated 19 Feb. 08.

In late May 2007, 3 members of the Irish family did do a reconstruction of the sighting, reconstruction meaning the PJ took the witnesses to the actual location and the 3 witnesses demonstrated the exact locations they saw the man.

Why didn't he check all that out back in May 07 when the Smiths had gone back to Portugal and had even showed inspectors where they'd seen this chap?
And why did no one check the bar receipts until 10 October?

External Inquiry
Date 10 ' 10 ' 2007
Place: Kelly's Bar, P da L
Inquiry carried out by Inspectors Rui Fernandes and Ricardo Paiva
Description and results of Inquiry
On this date at about 15.00 we went to Kelly's Bar, located in Rua da Calheta, in Praia da Luz. At the site we were received by an employee of the bar identified as L***** A**** M**** who had been on duty on the night of 3rd May 2007.
When questioned whether on the night in question she remembered the visit to the bar by witness Martin Smith and his family, she replied that she does not remember given the lapse of time between the events and because the bar is daily frequented by dozens of clients of different nationalities.
All the available documentation was requested concerning the expenses in the bar on the night of 3rd May 2007 as we were given the cash register from which photocopies were made referring to the period between 20.00 and 24.00, which is annexed to this report.
Signed

IMHO, that is not a reconstruction. A reconstruction would take place at the same time of the day as the event with all of the members of the family, etc.

9.39 13.75 euros - Group of 9 (4 adults) and closest time. They leave 20 minutes later. They can check with the Smiths on the estimate price.
9.46 8.00 euros
9.49 8.00 euros
9.50 5.00 euros
Regarding the 3rd of May, 2007, she went, with all her family, to eat at the Dolphin restaurant, which is close to Kelly's Bar. When they left the restaurant, around 21H30, they headed toward Kelly's Bar. They stayed there for about 30 minutes.
— Around 22H00, they left Kelly's Bar. The group headed, on foot, for their apartment. (Aoife Smith)

So why didn't he organise a fuller reconstruction back then?
What did he have in mind that they could have accurately remembered 6 months later that they hadn't at the time?

I really don't understand what he's talking about. Why didn't he get one of his officers to get the till receipts from the
Dolphin Kelly's bar, when he knew that that was where they'd said they were at the relevant time back in May 07 and when bar staff might have remembered them?
-

There are many witnesses who were interviewed a second time. Now it seems to make sense to go through the Kelly till records with them to try to define the time of the sighting more accurately. (IMO this could be done easily by sending one officer over to interview them in Ireland).

Do you agree that it would have been a reasonable idea for the police to clarify this back in May 2007?
-
The good PJ diligence in late May 2007 would have been even better if they had tried to pin the exact time better. At the beginning of Oct 2007 Mr Amaral was in the process of arranging for these Irish witnesses to fly back for further interview, but then suddenly he is removed from the case on Tue Oct 2nd 2007. The Irish witnesses would have been back in Portugal and reinterviewed that same week (ending Oct 7th 2007). The blame for that not happening lies entirely with the people who ensured Mr Amaral was removed. Those people delayed the official reinterviewing of the Irish family by 6 whole years. Now hopefully Mr Redwood will do what Mr Amaral was about to do 6 whole years ago.
-
Do you agree that it would have been a reasonable idea for the police to clarify this back in May 2007?
Why? the exact specific time wasnt that important back then, only when M Smith mentioned Gerry Mccann in Sept did it become more important......thats how I understand it.....unless Ive got the wrong end of the stick what is being discussed here

Kate McCann: How dare they call me cold Sunday Express
By James Murray
Sunday May 22,2011
A DEFIANT Kate McCann yesterday confronted critics who branded her cold and emotionless when she returned to the country where her daughter Madeleine vanished.
As she arrived in the Portuguese capital Lisbon to make her latest appeal for information, an angry Kate, 43, asked: "Who can say what the mum of a missing child should look like?
"People can judge however they want but unless you've been in the situation we've been in, it's impossible to know what someone feels. Why do people feel they have the right to judge when this judgment is based on ignorance?"
Kate and her husband Gerry chose not to give a formal press conference to launch her book, Madeleine, in Portugal, preferring to give television interviews.
Their daughter disappeared a few days before her fourth birthday from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz as they dined with friends in May 2007.
In an interview with the Portuguese magazine Sabado, Kate admitted she still feels guilty when she laughs about something. She said: "I've managed to appreciate life a lot more now. The feeling of guilt has diminished as well.
"We will always regret not having been there to help Madeleine but we cannot change things now.
"I still feel a little guilt when I laugh but not as much as I did. I have learned to accept it's not bad to be happy."
Kate, whose twins Sean and Amelie are now six, added: "They need a happy mummy and Madeleine needs to be able to return to a mummy who's happy as well."
Scotland Yard has announced a review of the Portuguese police investigation following the personal intervention of Prime Minister David Cameron.
Yesterday senior Portuguese police sources claimed key statements and a photo fit of a potential suspect were not passed on by their British counterparts.
Investigations by the Sunday Express suggest there were unexplained breakdowns in the communication, which could have damaged the effort to find Madeleine.
A British man at the tapas bar where the McCanns dined gave a statement saying how he spoke to an English woman who told him she had heard a "breaking noise" about the time that Madeleine was taken.
His statement, however, was not passed to Portuguese police, said Goncalo Amaral, the senior officer who was moved off the investigation for complaining about his British counterparts.
Earlier this month the Sunday Express published a photofit of a man seen acting suspiciously near the McCanns' apartment alongside a photograph of a 40-year-old German youth worker, being held on suspicion of murdering several children across Europe.
Mr Amaral said the first time he was aware of the photofit was when he saw it in the Sunday Express.
Last night he said: "I knew about the statement from the British woman but the photofit was not sent through. I believe it is important that this line of inquiry is investigated."
The woman who drew up the image was a relative of Pamela Fenn, an elderly woman who lived above the McCanns' apartment. She died recently. Her relative said that on the afternoon of the kidnap, she was on the balcony of Mrs Fenn's apartment when she looked down and saw a man pushing a gate to a neighbouring apartment to and fro possibly to find out how much noise it made.
When she realised Madeleine was taken the same evening she gave a statement to British police and helped them compile the photofit. However, the first time the public was aware of her potentially crucial evidence was its mention in Kate's book.
Speaking to the Sunday Express Mr Amaral said: "I don't think it would be useful to criticise the British detectives but I would be interested to hear why certain material was not sent to Portugal while I was on the case."
Ian Robertson, who has an apartment in the same block, said from his home at Neyland, Pembrokeshire: "There seemed to be a group of local thieves targeting the apartments. I have a theory that they had criminal contacts and that Madeleine might have been stolen to order."
Mr Amaral said: "One of the theories considered was that a thief got into the apartment and something happened with Madeleine. I am sure the review will examine that theory."

The "breaking noise" is interesting. What happened to that witness? Has she been interviewed?

I don't know. All we have is what jornalist JM writes in Sunday Express 22 May 2011

Presumably they mean a man who dines at Tapas that night?
Where did Express get this information from?
Does "gave a statement" mean the man gave a statement to police (LP/PJ)?
Or does it mean the man gave a statement to the unofficial private investigators???

Exactly, very vague.
I certainly don't remember reading about such a statement in the files, though perhaps Redblossom, keeper of all knowledge, or another person of encyclopedic mind, can enlighten us.

What if the man's statement was to PIs, and somehow accidentally got filtered out and never passed to police?
It would be easy for SY to check very quickly by simply asking the journo for the source of the "breaking noise" info.

SY ask journos? Youre havng a laugh!!!
they write whatever they want..they have a licence to obfuscate and lie...fact.....mostly under orders of the hgher liars......some of which are now in court for perverting the course of justice...... it would be fabulous if SY asked them, love to be a fly on the wall there too
