Title: Fury at petition calling for McCann’s to take a lie detector test.
Post by: John on March 29, 2017, 11:26:15 PM
Lie detectors or polygraphs are wholly unreliable and are known as a fake science.  They have no significance whatsoever in the field of criminal justice.  These devices are used to scare people into admitting crimes which they would not ordinarily admit to, the Adrian Prout case being a recent classic example.

Kate and Gerry would be well advised to give this recent invitation a very wide berth.

Fury at petition calling for Madeleine McCann’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann to sit a lie detector test.

'Rubbish' poll comes just weeks ahead of the 10th anniversary of Maddie's disappearance.

29th March 2017

A PETITION has been launched calling on Madeleine McCann’s parents Kate and Gerry to take a lie detector test.

It is the second crass poll to attract thousands of signatures as the family brace themselves for the 10th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.

It has sprung up on the Care2 Petitions website and is titled “Public want the McCann’s to take voluntary lie detector test”. So far it has 26,913 backers.

But a source close to the couple slammed it on Wednesday as “more utter rubbish”, insisting: “Kate and Gerry will not do a lie detector test because they’ve got nothing to lie about.

“It’s just nonsense to suggest they have.”

The McCann source told The Sun: “Lie detectors are not legally admissible in any court action in this country.

“Any person can set up a petition about anything under the sun. This is the second one which has recently gone up on social media against Kate and Gerry.

“But it’s not on the official parliamentary website which means it will not be open for possible discussion by MPs.”

The new petition states: “Since the disappearance of Madeleine almost 10 years ago, an overwhelming majority of the UK population now suspect that Gerry and Kate McCann may have played a direct role in the cover-up of her disappearance.

“The goal is to get 100,000 signatures and target the Prime Minister.”

The un-named organiser continues: “We, the public now ask that Gerry and Kate McCann take a voluntary lie detector test which will be set up and paid for by us to satisfy and to put an end to speculation and allegations that they are not implicated in their daughter’s disappearance, other than leaving her and her siblings alone on that fateful night.

“We feel that the McCann's should take this opportunity which is a positive step to successfully bring an end to the speculation that they were involved in their daughter’s disappearance to the extent of foul play by them or an accident which they deliberately covered up.”

The petition blurb continues: “The McCann's have received an unprecedented amount of funds and support from the government whilst other families whose children go missing receive almost none.

“Whether or not you believe they are part of a cover-up of an accident that took place that fateful night or they are involved in foul play in some way, or indeed they are completely innocent and they have been unfairly targeted, then that is why you must sign and share this petition.”

"The Portuguese Supreme Court judges have recently ruled against their final appeal over Amaral's book and said the lifting of their status as 'arguidos', or formal suspects did not mean they were innocent.”

A previous petition for Kate and Gerry to undergo a polygraph test was presented to the official Government website in October 2013 but was rejected.

The explanation given was that “petitions cannot be used to request action on issues that are outside the responsibility of the government” and also because “this is a police operational matter.”

The McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell refused to discuss the new petition, saying: “There is absolutely no comment.”

A friend of Kate and Gerry earlier dismissed a 130,616-strong signature petition calling for them to be charged with child abandonment as “pure bile” and “another cruel and pointless rant against them.”

The pal added: “Social media has been chuntering on about them for weeks. It’s all nonsense.”

Is this a set up, designed to gain sympathy, since lie detector tests are voluntary and carry no weight in court ?   &%+((£

Adrian Prout failed it and that's how they found Kate's body so good came from it for her family. If Prout hadn't taken a polygraph then Kate's body would still be missing and I have no doubt that he would still be claiming his innocence. Liars would be scared of it and that's the point.

The expert who tested him three months ago, British and European Polygraph Association chairman Don Cargill, recalled yesterday: “I said, ‘You’re a murderer.’ He just said ‘Ummmh.’ So I said, ‘Are you saying my test is wrong?’

“He actually replied, ‘No, your test is not wrong.’”

Don, 59, also said: “He smiled in what was one of the most surreal and chilling experiences of my life.

“There was no emotion at all, he was really calm and cool, chillingly so."

The McCanns must be the subject of more vexatious online petitions than any other private individuals ever.  Have people really got such sad inadequate lives that they feel it is their life's work to dream up new ways to bully the parents of a missing child?

The petition is meaningless.

Anyone, looking up the law would see it is a voluntary procedure.

So as Luz said, it could have been 'manufactured'.

Maybe it's in part because of the concerted and very dedicated  online pressure group that has been running for 10 years and which has been responsible for a malicious propaganda  campaign against them?

But running concurrently has been a positive propaganda campaign, arguably a much better organised and financed one. So I ask again, why are the McCanns singled out for such vilification?

Maddie McCann parents in fresh blow as second online petition launched
A SECOND online petition accusing Madeleine McCann’s parents of neglect had yesterday attracted nearly 27,000 signatures.
By Jerry Lawton / Published 30th March 2017

Another online poll calling for doctors Kate and Gerry to be prosecuted for child neglect has already been signed by 130,243 people.

The couple’s pals dismissed the new attack as “disgraceful”.

It was launched by The UK Database, a website run by self-proclaimed crime campaigner Chris Wittwer which catalogues the movements of child abusers after they have been freed from jail.

The site calls for an investigation into the couple’s actions the night their daughter vanished from the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz in 2007.

The UK Database petition alleged the McCanns had “gained financially” from their daughter’s disappearance.

Adrian Prout failed it because he was extremely nervous and not because he was guilty.  It just so happened that he was both guilty and extremely nervous but he could also have been innocent and extremely anxious, the machine cannot distinguish between these emotions.

The Polygraph is a gimmick which belongs on daytime TV, it has no place within the criminal justice system.  Someone should tell the eejit who set up the Petition.

The other thing which many people don't realise is that the polygraph does not provide a definitive guilty or innocent.  It provides a graphical readout of the physiological reactions in the subjects body.  This graph has to be interpreted by the polygraph operator and there are plenty out there who are nothing more than polygraph cowboys out to milk the unsuspecting mugs who can pay £700 a time for their 'expertise'.

As an aside, Luke Mitchell, another convicted killer whom we feature on this forum, took a polygraph test as did his mother and both passed with flying colours.  The polygraph tester was Terry Mulllins, secretary of the British Polygraph Association.

If polygraphs are genuine then Mitchell is innocent and has been incarcerated for over 13 years for a crime he did not commit.

A very big IF indeed!!

We the general public ask for an enforcement of 'A Lie Detector Test', also known as a 'Polygraph Test' also known as a 'Psychophysiology Detection of Deception or Credibility Assessment', We would duly implore a full enquiry and full questioning of Kate McCann and Gerry McCann in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann .
The presumption of innocence, which is an integral part of the Basic Law's principle would suppress numerous suspicions of Kate McCann and Gerry McCann in further assumption that Kate McCann and Gerry McCann are or have been guilty of any criminal activity in the disappearance of Madeline McCann

I'm sure Kate will fly through.

I think the odds are very long on her taking one.

Well this will not happen: ""I feel as though this would finally put an end to the debate of whether the McCanns had any involvement with their daughter's disappearance."  How could it end the debate.  It will more likely add fuel to the fire.

I think the odds are very long on her taking one.

I think the odds of those particular sceptics agreeing that a 'Pass' result proved the McCanns are innocent are even longer.

There would be screams of 'Fix!' and multitudes of claims that the test was unreliable and that some guilty people could beat it.

The one thing they wouldn't do is say ''Oops sorry Kate and Gerry - we were wrong''.

Just another spiteful McCann bashing exercise IMO.

This is all hot air.

There isn't going to be a lie-detector test taken by the McCann's.

With Madeleine found alive and unharmed, and the abductor banged to rights after a confession they still won't believe it.

Again, an abductor is not a fact.

The rest is just wishful thinking.

IMHO, of course.

What would happen if Kate passed and Gerry failed.    Yet Goncalo asked Kate to confess with the prospect of Gerry continuing to work.  I think the one who will come out of this worst for all will be Amaral. Aimho

Break out the champers, Stephen, you and I agree on something  %£&)**#

Ten years ago Kate and Gerry McCann lost their daughter.  In the full and certain knowledge that the alleged aim of his project means absolutely nothing someone has taken time out to think this one out only to add to their burden.

There is of course money involved, this is a paying site so ask cui bono on this one and there is a plain answer.

What though of the soul of the 'organiser' which in my opinion must be very black indeed to regurgitate a discredited nonsense for the purpose of torturing the parents of a missing child.
He is named in the Evening Times article ... if that is his real name I wonder what circles he associates with if he expects their acceptance of such aberrant behaviour.
