IMO had the Smiths come forward on 4th May 2007 their testimonies would have added much credence to Jane's sighting. PJ would have almost immediately been in possession of 2 very similar sightings of unaccompanied males, each carrying a young barefoot child, within 45 mins of each other within the abduction time_frame & close to 5A. PJ would have had no excuses for not taking Jane's sighting more seriously.
However, as we know, the late report by the Smith family only served one purpose at the time, which was to deflect from Murat.

I wonder why there haven't been any further child abductions in PDL since the abduction of MM?

Probably because it didn't happen.

I wonder why Murat hasn't gone on to abduct more children, seeing as though he was so successful with Maddie?

Probably because he didn't do it.

On a wider point, I wonder why there haven't been any further child abductions in PDL since the abduction of MM?

Probably because it didn't happen.

I think you have made a dramatic misinterpretation of my post. At no point did I say Murat abducted anyone.
Murat had just been made an arguido when the Smith family came forward. The media had been saturated with news & images of missing Madeleine and her devastated parents. Strangely, this didn't prompt any memories of that fateful night in Luz - at least, not until Murat was plastered all over the papers. Why did MS equate Murat with the man thought to have been the abductor?
As to your last point - there haven't been any more child abductions in Soham or Machynlleth. Didn't those tragic cases happen either?

Probably because parents since haven't left small children home alone in an unlocked apartment.
Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

I would suggest that the Smiths hadn't paid much attention to what was going on in PDL - after all, why should they? - until they saw Murat's name, a person they knew,in the papers which prompted them to speak out.

Only my opinion of course.

It was important enough to 3 of them to go back to Luz & make statements about a man they wouldn't even be able to construct an efit of. Who benefited from their actions because, despite the similarity of Smithman to Tannerman, Jane's sighting was always treated with much scepticism.

Probably because parents since haven't left small children home alone in an unlocked apartment.

Gerry said he used his key to enter (4 May 2007 statement) so that would make it a locked apartment. Police are very suspicious of inconsistencies from a last witness. They have been spoiled in this case. They have many contradictions from the 3 last witnesses who saw Madeleine only hours before she was reported missing - a 4 hour window.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

I expect they were asked to do so

No not necessarily.  It might just mean that for whatever reason(s) he entered via the front door instead of the unlocked patio doors.  KM states they left for tapas via the patio doors and she did her 10pm check via the patio doors.  MO states he entered via the patio doors.

I think the McCanns left for tapas every evening via the patio door and retired for the night this way so as to avoid using the front door which was close to the children's room and nosier to open/close than sliding the patio doors at the opposite end of the apartment.  However given the checks were only to listen for crying in reality one of the group might have been on 'checking duty' and simply went to the front shutters and listened.  If the only concern was waking and crying then what would be the point in opening and closing doors which was more likely to disturb the children and cause them to wake and cry?

GM might have said he entered via the front door as he was seen doing so by JW or seen in an area that didn't fit with patio doors.

wheres the evidence for this pact of silence...who coined the phrase

It may not be written. However, none one of these 'parents' have come out to discuss what happened, why is that?  AND they all refused to go back for a reconstruction. why is that?

IMO They have all contributed to the  disappearance of MBM, as they coluded to have a listening service before they left the UK.  Their pathetic interviews were embarrassing and pointless as was their versions of the timelines.

Their behaviour was to protect the story about an 'abductor' and their reputation, by not speaking up and saying- they would help by going back for the reconstruction for the Police regardless of what Kate and Gerry wanted.  IMO They have let little Maddie down very, very badly and should be  wholly ashamed of themselves.

What a stupidly illogical post, but yet so popular with our sceptic members.  That says a lot!

I’ve read the whole post.  It was typically facetious and inane.  I guess that’s why it was so popular with some.

What a typically hamfisted attempt at trying to get a rise out of me.  Or should that be spamfisted?  LOL.

We all know the front door needed a key.  It is the status of the patio door that you need to question before saying it was "a locked apartment".  One locked door does not make it a locked apartment.
