I think some people need to accept that without solid evidence the claims of mistakes and misunderstandings are nothing more than rumours and could be seen as propaganda aimed at discrediting the Portuguese legal system. .
I think one has to take a care in relation to loose accusation of disseminating propaganda when a long denied method used by the representatives of the Portuguese Legal System in 2007 was precisely that, in my opinion. Public opinion was tweaked, massaged and manipulated as the Policia Judiciaria broke the law pertaining to an active police investigation by actively leaking to the press.
There should have been as much information emanating from the investigation in 2007 as there is from the current investigation ... and that is nil ... but in fact the 2007 leaks from the investigation came right from the top as confirmed by journalist Sandra Felgueiras in the Netflix documentary whose source was Goncalo Amaral, the case co-ordinator.

This means even the most senior detectives in charge of an inquiry are not allowed: to speak to the press and the media. Quite frankly this was a ludicrous state of affairs which made covering the story near impossible
19: In their evidence the McCanns. referring to the press in general terms, said that many stories had been "made up" and that they did not believe "police sources" were genuine.
In the case of every story I wrote, the police sources I quoted were genuine.
I had three sources in Portugal who provided me with information.
Two were Portuguese journalists who were in daily contact with the most senior officers investigating Madeieine McCann’s disappearance.
The third was a translator who worked for the Portuguese Police and translating and interpreting in the Portuguese legal system.
WITNESS STATEMENT OF DAVID HAMILTON PILDITCH to the Leveson Inquiry

You really couldn't make it up could you.
