Initially, when the case was proceeding as murder/suicide, the tabloid media went into overdrive portraying SC as a "top model" who partied hard in London's clubs indulging heavily in hard drugs. In reality SC completed a modelling course and undertook a handful of paid assignments. She was claiming DSS and as full-time carer to the twins (until her last breakdown Mar '85) she had neither the money or opportunity to party hard even if she had wanted to and there's no evidence for that either. Toxicology results revealed traces of cannabis in her system and her psychiatrist said she did admit to using cocaine socially.
When the case changed to 5 murders the tabloid media did a complete U turn and once again went into overdrive this time denigrating JB with all sorts of untruths.
But it is simply untrue to say that no one believed in JB and everyone disliked him. I will upload statements from those who thought positively about JB.
It has always seemed to me those that testified against JB had something to gain:
Relatives - inherited the Bamber estate instead of JB
JM - relieved of potential criminal charges for cheque fraud, drug dealing and assisting JB to burgle the caravan park. She may also have been threatened with more serious crimes as it might have been put to her JB told her about his intentions based on the circa 3.30 am tel call.
CC - possibly felt less guilty about leaving SC and the twins shortly after they were born. And I would imagine it was easier for him to see JB murdering his sons than the mother of his children.
