Related to something like recreational drugs you mean ?
I don't know, but there must have been an incident or a change in behaviour which made her parents decide that she needed psychiatric assessment.
Whatever caused them to seek help from Dr Ferguson Sheila did indeed need treatment. He says she was no longer deluded nor hallucinating when she was discharged on 10/9/83, so perhaps that was what had alarmed her parents. Dr Ferguson described her as having made a partial recovery. He continued to see her as an out-patient and gave her what he describes as a low dose anti-psychotic drug.
The only involvement of her GP practice seems to have been prescribing this drug; Stelazine, which her GP describes as a major tranquiliser. It was prescribed, according to her GP, shortly after she was discharged from hospital.
Both descriptions of the drug are correct, it seems, so anti-psychotic drugs are major tranquilizers.
Although Dr Ferguson recommended NHS treatment he says this was rejected by both Sheila and her parents. Her GP mentions no input into her treatment except for issuing prescriptions and reading reports sent to him by Dr Ferguson from time to time.
