I’m from Edinburgh and remember the news at the time had most of us believing he was guilty way before the trial began, I’m not sure how a trial in Edinburgh could ever have been a fair one.
I went from a firm believer of his guilt to being in shock how anyone, let alone a 15 year old boy imo could be found guilty on the evidence they had.
From what I can see it all comes down to 2 possible sightings one at the top of the lane before the murder and one at the bottom of the lane.
Luke and his dog finding the body
Not believing Luke was home with his mum
His brother not being sure if Luke was home
His mum destroying his clothing but I believe there is no evidence of this other than reports of a funny smell, no forensic findings in the wood burner or the home.
His love of Manson and the black dahlia paintings but again no evidence, I think I read he had a cd he got free in a magazine?
I’m not sure what else, certainly no damning evidence. Murderer weapon not found, no blood on Luke or in his house or the wood burner, all places you would expect to find some sort off trace evidence. No motive, but he did have the means as he had a knife, as did hundreds of others. It’s the opportunity that’s strange too, the timings just don’t seem to fit for me. If Jodi was killed at 5.15 ( the time the moped was seen at the v) and If I remember correct, luke was seen at the end of his street by someone he knows before 6pm, around 5.50 I think. So that leave just over 30 mins to fight, struggle, strip, tie up Jodi, and carry out all the injuries and murder, then get home, clean up, change and be seen at the end of his street. Just doesn’t seem like much time or opportunity. To me.
Forensic testing has came on leaps and bounds in the past 20 years, hopefully they can get the independent review and see if there is anything new found.
