What a fiasco.  They should just give her the minimum for murder if the jury cannot decide.
A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Why minimum John? She should have been given life without parole. The minimum is life but eligible for parole after 25 years. That's not enough in my book.

Just a thought.   In the UK it is the Sheriff or the judge who hands out sentence which means there is no messing about after trial but I don't think it is a better system.  My own experience is that it is open to abuse since a judge is expected sometimes to hand down a sentence without having the benefit of hearing the case in court.  All he has to go by is a sheriff's notes which we know can be completely biased.

Strangely, the most eerie picture I have of that whole mess is Travis waking up to Jodi hoovering after having snuck into his house when he was sleeping.

Have been following the case closely too....

Wow Abs .... thought you had abandoned us! Nice to see ya. I remembered you followed the Memphis 3 so I am not surprised you're following the Arias trial. What a piece of work that girl is eh? Pure sociopath!

What sentence would you give her?

Life with the possibility of parole after 25. I believe she has is a Borderline Personality Disorder, which peeks from the age of 16 to 35 (thereabout). After that age most BPDs turn pretty normal and are not dangerous anymore.
Or life - I don´t really care, as long as it is not death. I am so strongly opposed to the death penalty for a variety of reasons (believe I summed them up somewhere here earlier.)
I will be back about more Arias!  ?{)(**

I think the death penalty in this case is already proving to be a problem for all involved, not least Travis Alexander´s family.
People here are perfectly satisfied with for instance a sentence of life in prison. Verdict given, people move on as best they can, they are not expecting anything more.
You could see the agony on the faces of Alexander´s family members when they learned that the jury couldn´t decide. Now there are more months to wait - and all this costs this family a lot of money.
It is also anguish for Jodi´s family - and for Jodi (if she can feel anything). I think it is inhumane to let people wait for a verdict that involves death.
Let us say she is sentenced to death. She will have numerous appeals, which leave her, her family. and the Alexander family hanging. We are talking about around 12 years in this particular state.
Then when the big date comes, and Jodi is killed with the Alexander family present (which I think is gross - all of it, just barbaric), they will not, I repeat NOT feel any kind of relief. Studies show that.
Everyone could have started to move on now with, say, a life in prison sentence - they cannot with the death penalty.

I have been wondering why this case has gotten so much attention, and the reason, I think is obvious. Jodi is an attractive, soft spoken woman who committed a brutal murder. It is hard to imagine that such a feminine creature can do such a thing.
I don´t think it is fair. What happened to Travis Alexander happens to women around the globe all the time. Stalkings, beatings, murders by spouses or boyfriends. It is so common that it isn´t even interesting. Not fair!

Hello abs... back from swimming in the deep blue abyss, but still sitting on the fence I see (and as you know Bamber discussion here is almost nonexistent now, except for the odd shot in the arm from Shona and Ian).

I waver with the death penalty; it depends on the gravity and nature of the offence. I see the Arias case as a stalking/domestic which escalated out of all proportion, with one party having deep psychological issues, obsessive BPD as you put it, and the other having neither the will nor desire to do anything about it. Notice how in the court videos of the Alexander family and friends, it was only the women who were tearful. Even the female judge welled up and faltered when she dismissed the jury. Is it a man-woman emotional difference?

Although the jurors are told to concentrate only on the evidence, I believe subconsciously they consider other matters such as the cost comparison of the more expensive death option against life imprisonment. Arias has already cost those in Arizona millions... were some willing to go for the cheaper option to arrest the drain on State funds?

It may not even reach a second July trial if they negotiate an agreement beforehand, so that she receives only L w/o P, although this might not be acceptable for Martinez or the Alexander family.... we'll have to see.

But if I was an American citizen I'd have no difficulty at all deciding on the death penalty for lowlife such as the 9/11 conspirators, Boston bombers, or anyone else who takes other people's lives deliberately and gratuitously for misguided religious, sexual, sadistic or monetary gain reasons; for example, the appalling crime carried out by these two, who deserved the death sentences they got and more besides IMO...

Would you still have the same view regarding the DP with any of the above?

It's one of them cases, in'it... one of them f*ckin' cases.

Actually, yes I do. I am 100% against death penalty, nothing can change my mind. Many of those people are sick.

Those glasses Jodi wore during the trial.... When she had to read something, she had to lift them up a little and read under them. As soon as the trial was over, so were her glass wearing days. She is so, argh!  8-)(--)

She also wore several different pairs, whereas Sherry Stephens had to make do with the one... a judge's job must be poorly paid in Maricopa!!!

Jodi Arias is I think myopic, as is her father and her younger brother more severely so, but I wouldn't read too much into the vanity aspect. I'm short-sighted but I don't wear them continuously, either through eye-strain or if doing something active and worried in case I knock them off.

It's one of them cases, in'it... one of them f*ckin' cases.

How can it be unfair when Arias herself has courted every TV channel that will have her since her arrest. It's not so much she is an attractive woman but rather she is such a brazen and consummate liar. That and the fact she is a pure narcissistic sociopath!

These traits are very rare especially in such a seemingly mild mannered and intelligent woman ... that's what makes this trial so fascinating. Add the fact the murder was so obviously premeditated and exceptionally violent and being shown live on TV; it is not surprising it has become so sensationalised!

Have you read what she actually did to Alexander? How you can call that level of violence common, I do not know!

Just my opinion of course Abs and it's nice to see you back here posting!  8((()*/

Arias' defence team get a lot of stick, I think its unjustified. it cant be easy for them to defend somebody who was so obviously guilty of premeditated murder. Didn't matter what witnesses took the stand for the defence, the evidence was there, guilty. It cant have been easy for Willmott and Nurmi, they were left clutching at straws most of the time,  because that's all they could do to be honest.
