Thats a very interesting point. Why would anyone go to such expense unless the shutters and windows were a security risk

I think it was probably in response to the many people who were interested in interfering with 5A following the disappearance;

On 20 September, two men and a women, claiming to be from "Sky News", attempted to force open the external blinds of the front bedroom of apartment 5A and were asked to leave the area; on 25 September a three Spanish persons - again two men and a woman - were found with cameras on the patio balcony of apartment 5B. Having no identification, but being in possession of film equipment, they were believed to be journalists.
- Cleaning staff in Ocean Club were persistently accosted by journalists, often with offers of money, to provide access to apartment 5A. They were always refused but the personal particulars of the pests were not noted...

on 26 September someone forced up the external blinds of the front bedroom to an oblique angle. There appeared to be no attempt to force open the window. The security guard stated between 21:00 and 21:05 he had done the 'rounds' of the block, then walked down to the supermarket and back again whereupon he found the damage which he called in immediately.
- He and a colleague from the same security detail had conversed shortly before 21:00 noting that neither had seen any strangers other than two Canadian television journalists, a man and a woman, who had been seen at a nearby bar.

So it was possible to force the shutters up and get them to stick.

Once they are at an angle it would be difficult to free them again imo.

For the umpteenth time it depends on the when and the how.... If it was 8:20 then no it's not plausible etc etc etc.

If you seriously believe there was an abduction then you need to tell us when and how. Taking a child that has been left in an unlocked apartment is of course possible. It's knowing the arguments for the when and the how that lets us then establish if such a scenario is plausible or logical.

I will tell you the when and how of what I think happened.

The apartment was being watched.   The abductor knew that the checks were made every half hour or so.

The McCann's left for dinner and arrived at the Tapas Bar at eight thirty.

Matt did a listening at the window,  reported all was quiet when he arrived at the Tapas Bar.

However Gerry decided to do a check anyway,  he left just after nine o'clock.

When the abductor saw Matt do his check,   he thought he had thirty minutes in which to abduct Madeleine.   He enters through the front door having a key.  However,  he is alerted by Gerry entering in through the patio doors.   He either hides or goes back out through the front door.   When Gerry leaves,  he opens the window,  incase someone else arrives at the apartment.   He either passes Madeleine through the window to an accomplice or he leaves through the front door.

When later Matt does his check,   the room seems lighter,  that is because the shutter is open but the curtains hides the fact.   When Kate enters the room,  the wind blows the curtains open to reveal the shutters are open and window open.  IMO

The opinion of someone who used window shutters for four years, however. They work using gravity, but if they get jammed at an angle they can't fall when the strap inside is used. Raising them while at an angle is likely to cause the chain to come off.

Wasnt there accounts of other apartments being burgled by a window.

Mrs Fenn has told police how she scared off an intruder she found in her apartment in the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz in the weeks leading up to Madeleine's disappearance.

There was no sign of a break-in and police believe he may have used a key to get in through the front door.

The terrified mother was watching TV in the evening and went to investigate a noise coming from her bedroom.

Mrs Fenn, who has lived in Praia da Luz for a number of years, discovered a man scrambling out of the window.

This supports the idead of a window being opened as a means of escape if caught

An excellent Comment and more or less what I have believed from Day One.

But then I was following this Case from Day One and saw all of the events and nuances which were later convoluted unnecessarily.  Or perhaps by design to cover the peculiar opinions of a Convicted Liar.

I have always had hope that Amaral was just stupid and not really a bad man, but simply hog tied by his upbringing in a Dictatorship.
This is also the problem with The Supreme Court Judges, who largely reinvented themselves during the two Revolutions, which is why The Judges of The First Instance are so often over ruled.

There is no logical or plausible explanation for this.  The mind set is entrenched in the reign of Salazar.

The shutters don't remain in the up position if lifted from the outside.... And then you come to the door handle - how does the abducter force the window from the outside without leaving evidence of a break in?

So did an accomplice lift the shutters before Kate's check? Was this accomplice still holding the shutters open during Kate's check? That's just not plausible imo.

How many times are you going to run with that canard.  If you know nothing about a subject please refrain from pontificating about it.

EVERYBODY here with the slightest knowledge KNOWS how the shutter was raised from the outside.  Gerry demonstrated his lack of knowledge and you have just exhibited yours.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

The corresponding apartment to 5A in Block four which had also been burgled is fitted with metal grills now.
As is the window of the apartment directly above 5A where the window through which an intruder gained entry and exit.

I believe more modern shutters have addressed this security breach which would be important as - despite strenuous denial - burglary was quite a problem in the Algarve.

Then entaglement of the slats is probable.

How so?  They are metal strips are they not?  How do they get tangled up with each other?  The fact is - you don't know exactly how these particular shutters would behave if rammed up at an angle and then an attempt made to  gently loosen them back into place.

Sounds plausible.  Sounds logical (to me at any rate, though I don't exclude other points of entry/exit at a later time in the evening prior to 10pm).  I expect Billy to try and tell you why it is not.  I wouldn't expect any other sceptic or serious researcher to have a go at explaining why they think your theory is illogicial and implausible though.
