Wouldn't the Met have started with checking out the T9?

Why would they have started with that? The PJ went that way and look where it got them, pilloried in the press.

We have had no reports from anyone that the T9 have been re-interviewed and i'm sure had they been it would have come out.

Is it not beyond the relams of possibility that the Yard are working "back to front". Go through the abduction scenario and leads first before moving on IF that draws a blank.

At least that way the Yard could genuinely say "look we have tested the abduction theory and exhausted all leads, as such we must now seek clarification and test your statements".

That then would remove the possible allegation from the group that " they (the police) are persecuting us again, just like the PJ, when there are so many abduction leads they haven't followed".

I'm not saying that is what will happen, i don't know and none of us do, however given the nature of the case and the PJ's investigation of it, i can see the sense in starting with an abduction hypothesis and working backwards if neccesary.

All those hypotheticals!  I am quite prepared to wait patiently for SY to continue their investigation in their way in their own time.

And I agree with Carana in the subsequent post that it is logical to assume that SY have already made an in depth investigation into the McCanns and their friends in order to be able to rule them out of any complicity in the disappearance of Madeleine.

The fact that the Portuguese investigation was incomplete and the fact the review hasn't finished and the re-investigation by the Yard has just started means, by definition, any discussion about outcomes is entirely hypothetical.

Any assumption made that the Mccann's and their group have been fully re-investigated by SY is a hypothetical one given that this has not been confirmed either by the Yard, the Mccann's or the group themselves.

They have said that the Mccann's and the group are not suspects.

It's not the same as syaing they have been fully re-investigated.

I am also quite preapred and comfortable to let the Yard contiune their work and let's see what happens.

If an abductor is found, then terrific, and i'll be extremely interested to see the evidence the Yard brings to Court.

One question which appears not to have been asked nor answered is what happens if after following these 38 persons of interest, nothing comes to solve the case. What then?

I repeat if that happens will you be comfortable with the yard then going back to the group?

If there was no evidence of an abduction SY would not be embarking on a £ multi million investigation which was pushed for by the McCanns themselves.

I agree.  Why on earth would the McCanns have pushed for this investigation by the Yard if they were complicit in Madeleine's disappearance.  It would be like a turkey voting for Christmas.

Spot on Angelo.
The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Goodness me  ... I't's taken me quite a while to read the complete  content of the op's link

... and what  a rational, logical , and refreshing read it is

I challenge anyone to take that on ... point by point

Go on ... convince  us sceptics by  deconstructing  the analysis  provided by the link in the op

please do   .. point  by point

Hi icabod.  I have neither the time nor the inclination to debunk this Cracked Mirror piece.  As far as I'm concerned, it's another vanity piece from yet another person who seems to think that they know better than the PT Attorney General.

The author is implying that the McCanns and the holiday party have lied.  I will just put this question to the forum: Do you seriously believe that no-one will have cracked? Come on! Carrying the burden of a terrible secret for all these years?

SY (and all other forces around the country) perform high cost investigations all the time which are not solved.

As far as i am aware the Mccann's pushed for a review of the PJ case.

It can of course be argued they did so to continue the search for their daughter, but equally it can also be argued they pushed for it so the review would give them the "exoneration" the PJ investigation and the AG report failed to give them and for once and for all to remove the black cloud which still hangs over them from that case.

It would of course been easier for them to perform the reconstruction that the PJ were asking for as part of the Portuguese penal code that they refused to participate in.

Had they agreed, then the case would not have been shelved at the point it was in the first place.

How do you know the Mccanns told the truth about what happens, along with their acquaintances ?

You don't of course. For you it is a matter of faith, no more.

Well without going into the detail of who the AG in Portugal is (NOT a judge), and without going into the facts of the libel case where the Judges ruled that the PJ's theory was a valid police led theory based on the facts gathered and one of equal validity to the AG report, even the AG himself said:

Quote
Taking into account that there were certain points in the arguidos' and witnesses' statements that revealed, apparently at least, contradiction or that lacked physical confirmation

That is also echoed by the judge in an actual court (rather than a public prosecutor) in the libel trial who also, in round about terms, accused them of lying.

Yet they weren't even arrested.  Funny that, isn't it?

Kate and Gerry McCann did not refuse to take part in a reconstruction.

Remember this, a lack of evidence, does not show a crime was not committed.

and before you say it, that works both ways.

So on that basis, if you want to me to include abduction, then you have to accept the possibility Madeleine had an accident in the apartment.

Of course not - SY are not obliged to keep us informed of the nitty-gritty of their investigation!

As for the rest of your post - wishful thinking on your part.

I don't accept the possibility that Madeleine had an accident in the apartment.  How on earth do you imagine that they managed to dispose of Madeleine and then go to dinner as if nothing had happened? All in a matter of a couple of hours, without access to a car in a foreign country.

Yet the reconstruction would have highlighted these discrepancies and the group refused to take part in it!

Kate and Gerry McCann did not refuse to take part in a reconstruction.

Yes, they did and their lawyers blocked them from taking part.
