More information available on the Guardian, confirms that six PJ detectives are carrying out the Met's enquiries and negotiations about a closer working relationship are ongoing.

What brilliant news we're having today, six new policemen from Faro not previously involved in the case working along with the Met, PT/Uk relations must be improving.

DCI Redwood said: "I have no reason to be anything other than confident in the McCanns. They have been thoroughly supportive of our inquiry and our relationship is very strong."


There is different material and a different understanding to be presented. There is new information not previously presented – fresh, substantive material.”



In view of the history of this case and how the McCanns were presented originally this is the first time they will have sat alongside police officers. From their perspective it is quite significant.”

Thank you DCI    I haven't quoted you because there's a risk of going off topic with me mentioning Jeremy Wilkins but will say that I didn't mention the times because I realised (and mentioned) on the other thread that I'd mistaken a policeman's statement as belonging to Jeremy Wilkins which is what was confusing me with the times. Thanks to you  I can now forget about the man with blonde hair and probably get rid of my last paragraph from my original post leaving (and hopefully keeping on topic):

There's been numerous headlines like this over the years that fizzled out to nothing so it's difficult to believe anything the mainstream media say now.

The exception being the bit about Crimewatch. I don't understand how things work so I hope I'm forgiven if I sound silly. I thought Crimewatch aired unsolved cases to bring hardly known cases to the forefront because the police have run out of leads or ideas and need the help of the public? Yet according to the mainstream Scotland Yard still have leads? The McCann's have had a lot of coverage over the years that I can't see there being anyone left who doesn't know what Madeleine looks like or what the McCann's say happened so I wonder what can be offered that hasn't already been covered.

I still hope that Jeremy Wilkins will be part of Crimewatch though.

How can Madeleine being in the hands of a paedophile gang be seen as positive in any way, shape or form ? Have you any idea what these people actually do to children ?

If the McCanns already know this is the line of investigation SY are pursuing it does make you question Gerry and Mrs Healy's wide grins on Wednesday.

Though as long as the McCanns are in the clear that must be a positive development, right ?

I have the newspaper Correio da Manhã right in front of me and the sentence reads thus:

A linha de investigação da Scotland Yard aponta para a tese de rapto, num contexto de pedofilia.

The line of investigation of Scotland Yard points to the idea of an abduction, in the context of paedophilia.

Nowhere in the article does it say that the PJ is following this line of investigation. Newspapers in Britain aren't really bothered very much about printing the truth, are they?

This is the nerve centre of Scotland Yard’s £5 million investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
 
The Standard was today allowed exclusive access to the incident room in London where detectives are running the world-wide inquiry into the missing child.


Restricted access: The door to the incident room

Located on the second floor of Belgravia police station, the room is the centre of a massive inquiry involving tens of thousands of documents and files. Detectives work surrounded by shelves stacked with 39,000 or so documents from the Operation Grange inquiry. A separate room contains more files from police and private detectives.

Detectives are poised to release a new appeal with “fresh substantive” material and a new theory of what happened when the three-year-old vanished.

Officers are combing through a huge log of mobile phone traffic identified in Praia da Luz, in Portugal, at the time of Maddy’s disappearance while she was on holiday in the Algarve with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann and her twin siblings six years ago. Detectives are focusing on a list of 41 so-called “persons of interest” including 15 British nationals.

The McCanns will appear live in the studio during an episode of BBC Crimewatch on Monday October 14 which will also feature a reconstruction of the night Madeleine disappeared in Portugal — and equivalent programmes are expected to be broadcast in Holland, Germany and possibly Ireland.

Detectives said new material uncovered by the inquiry does not implicate the family or their friends.

BTW, Correio da Manhã never stated that the Portuguese police were following the abduction and paedophile line of investigation. It stated that it was Scotland Yard's thesis.
