BTW, Correio da Manhã never stated that the Portuguese police were following the abduction and paedophile line of investigation. It stated that it was Scotland Yard's thesis.

Speculation can often, in the fullness of time, be proved to be correct. I noticed there was no absolute denial.

What purpose will that serve then  ?

Nearly three years and six million pounds later,  they have a  Theory   ?   ...  in other words,  they don't  'know'  what happened but they are going to announce  (  whilst the investigation is still ongoing  )  what they they think  'might'  have happened

I don't know Icab - as we don't have a similar case to compare like for like with.   However, I'm sure SY know what they are doing and know what it is safe to reveal or not as the case may be.    It would seem that they have reached a point where they need the public's help  - in order to progress their investigations -  hence the Crimewatch prog.
