It is possible that someone could die in a spot without leaving forensic evidence. What do the police do, just ignore the dog's alert.

I think is would be what used to be called a lead.... 8(0(*

A dog's alert is always intelligence. If that lead isn't enough, then the police and Justice have to desist. The result is imo the worst and the more sticky of conclusions : doubt. It's not rare that descendants of convicted persons, self-claimed to be innocent, try to reopen cases. And if not family, historians do, as recently in the Lindbergh case.

LOL your joking right?

The first person who would touch a dead body/murdered etc would not be the police.

I would not expect one policeman would TOUCH a dead body in a crime scene...even on CSI and Body of Proof the police NEVER touch the body, only the MEDICAL EXAMINER would be allowed to touch a dead body, so sorry W.R.O.N.G....

IF for example say one had cadaver all over them, then why did the dog only indicate at one point in the wardrobe?

LOL, I love this forum its like reading tales from the unexpected because I never know what to expect next lol.

You are not as well informed as you think you are..police attend a lot more deaths than you realise...unexpected and sudden deaths...suicides...accidents...elderly people who die alone and a forced entry is needed...drug overdoses....the list goes on

Police officers aren't trained to touch corpses but to call a doctor as soon as they see a cadaver.

I don't think you understand what I am referring to

Offline Mr Gray

I believe police officers attend post mortems and morturies

Well do you know a lot of medical students lol..

I asked my friend about the dogs at the beginning.

She has trained dogs since the early seventies, some for the police, others for dogs for blind etc.

To have cross contamination you first have to be in contact with a source?

So where would you have been in contamination of a source of cadaver to cross contaminate in the first place.

Did the group for example visit a mortuary at the time to see how the portugese deal with bodies, or did they spend time in the cemetery helping with dead bodies?

ALSO one has to remember the McCanns had been to their friends apartments so if they had cross contamination scent on themselves they would have taken it into the other apartments wouldnt they but the dog did not indicate in any other apartment..

Cross contamination yes I can go with that but from where is the point and why only certain items?

Perhaps you have an idea you would like to share with me, thanks awfully I really want to learn about all this.

As to your sentence I have emphasised.

Perhaps they were not so clever as they thought they were, and missed a few areas......after all most of the doctors I have seen seem to miss the obvious even on MRIs lol... @)(++(*

you rubbish the idea of cross contamination but it was Grime himself who stated that the alerts could be a result of contamination as a result of several scenarios...so in effect you are rubbishing Grime

How do they tell if it is a cadaver or a living person without touching it?

You look.

And they tend not to look back with their open dead glazed over eyes.......there are loads of signs....but of course in Portugal any police even touching a dead person,  does not wear gloves and spreads the dead scent ,  IF it has developed, of course, around, cos their useless and sloppy
