The essential lie to the Press which preceded the villa search.
« on: October 07, 2013, 12:25:44 PM »
Kate's book   (  page 205 )

"We'd never lied about anything  -  not to the police, not to the media, not to anyone else.  But now we found ourselves in one of those tricky situations where we just didn't seem to have a choice."

The  'lie'  Kate is talking about here is telling the press that a planned trip to Huelva was being cancelled because Gerry was unwell.    ( the truth was that the police were doing forensic work in their villa that day  )

A place where Madeleine never lived.

The real scandal is why such an exercise ever took place.

Harrison depicted it as exclusively  a PJ operation, for precisely the reason that he had nothing to with it; the operation following at the gym the same ...

What do you mean   ?  ...  Kate  admitted  to telling lies to the press  ...  she even comments that they  'didn't feel good about it'

I don't know what more   'proof'  you can expect,  beyond an admission by the McCanns themselves that they lied

No,  it was a lie  ...  Kate used the word  'lied'  not  'excuse'

The significance is that Kate McCann acknowledged that she and Gerry are prepared to tell lies   in  'tricky situations'

OK, so why did Harrison say that what took place at the villa was a PJ operation?

...moderated ..

No idea ...  the point I was making is that,  when faced with a  'tricky situation, '  the McCanns felt they had no option except to tell lies

They weren't in a tricky situation.  They were in a contrived situation for purposes irrelevant to the quest to discover the truth of what happened to Madeleine.

Being in a  'tricky situation'  is how Kate described it ...  not me

But look, I'm not throwing my hands in the air,  aghast at the knowledge that the McCanns lied to the press  ...  I actually understand  why they did that

I  am just pointing out that claiming the McCanns have been utterly and completely honest about  everything  is false
