I think his supporters did not expect him to have to sink so low as to use legal tricks to escape his fate..he really is showing how desperate his position has become

You all seem to forget that Gonçalo Amaral won the battle of the book ban! The McCanns lost that battle and the appeals court ruled that they were not libelled and that their rights were not infringed upon.

gerry was mad  as about that    !!!!  and yeah in soome  ways i can understand why the mcanns  were  annoyed  but   IMO    they should be using technology  anyway  alot of stuff  here in australia is done via  skype could they have done  that??

Goncalo Amaral has now stated that he does not intend to publish the 2nd book he has penned on the Madeleine case. In the words of Marjorie Dawes "Yeah, but how does it end?"

...its rather odd that a sacked lawyer colludes with the defendant by going to court to explain that he has been sacked and the defendant cannot therefore continue. We will soon see what pans out.

Not in the least, it is quite normal for a lawyer to attend court to advise that they have been discharged by their client..its called good practise and showing respect for the court.

It was well within the remit of Goncalo Amaral to dispense of his legal representation, nothing untoward, he obviously felt that he wasn't benefiting of best defence !

He sacked his lawyer on the night of the 13th, the court did not attend until Monday.

The McCanns would have had to still travel surely as the judge could have still ruled her decision coudlnt she. It was up to the JUDGE to decide what the next course of action would be.

No one wins this case. The McCanns actually have done themsevles more harm then good with this case.

People i know who didnt follow are now angry at how greedy the seem and not only that how dare that women (is what they are saying) moan about CHILD CARE now when she didnt bother about it 3rd May.

Amaral hasnt any money anyway and lives a frugal life as his assets have been frozen since 2009. Once this is over he is looses, I expect that other book will go on the shelves lol.

He is being sued to for libel.

If he can be established as a duplicitous liar, the burden on the McCanns to prove their case might be that little bit easier ...
