Even a simple search of the internet, will reveal more information about neglect of children by their parents.

Some get away with it, as we have seen in Portugal. Some get cautioned. Some are charged.

So it's about time you get real dave, more than time, and that applies to anyone who excuses the mccanns behaviour.

and for good measure here's one example.

MORE TO COME.

the article is about child neglect in general...where are your cases of prosecution for leaving children...try reading the title of your thread again to remind you what it is about..

the article highlights that parents are cautioned ...not charged...showing you to be wrong again

No dave.

When you are cautioned, you have a record. Some cautions remain on the system.

Like i said, more to come.

In 2012 six parents – one father and four mothers and a guardian – were arrested by officers for abandoning children aged from 4 years old to 12. No further action was taken in these cases.

Last year a mother was arrested on July 2 for leaving a 3-year-old home alone and was released without charge.

On July 12 last year, a father left an 11-year-old alone and was arrested but released without further action. But a guardian was charged and bailed on October 10 last year for abandoning a 3-year-old and 5-year-old.

And on January 8 this year a mother was handed a caution for causing unnecessary suffering by abandoning two young children.

No further action was taken against a mother who was arrested on February 1 for leaving an 11-year-old and a 14-year-old alone. And on March 5 a mother was cautioned for leaving a child aged three alone.

Two mothers were cautioned in June and August. One was for abandoning 4-year-old and the other for neglecting a 5-year-old. A father was arrested but not charged for leaving a 10-year-old alone in August.

Last month a mother from Birmingham launched an attempt to remove a police caution for leaving her son, then 6 years old, home alone for 45 minute.

As I wrote yesterday but which was deleted for some reason, surely it is cases in Portugal of children being left alone that we should be looking for in order to make any sort of comparison with this case?

Oh dear dave.

Got your back up ?

The facts are  neglect their children.

Some parents get away with it.

Some don't.

so you have once again failed to support your claims

So....to answer the actual thread and stay on topic...it seems being charged for leaving children alone is quite rare

Is that your stock answer to everything ?

http://www.actionforchildren.org.uk/campaigns/tackling-child-neglect/changing-the-law/making-the-case-for-change

and I presume you remember CPN who was in Social Services, and reminded you and others, not all cases of neglect get to court,or get reported in the newspapers or on TV.

so you have managed to find to find one case where a mother left a 20 month old baby alone FOR A WEEK......who was jailed...no surprises there...apart from that ...nothing

“The law is nearly 80 years old and in cases of child neglect uses outdated and confusing terms, making it much harder for the police and courts to make quick and consistent decisions that should properly protect children from abuse.”

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children received 12,000 calls to its free 24-hour helpline last year – with 8,600 considered so serious they were reported to the police or social services.

David Tucker of the NSPCC said: “Cautions are still admissions of guilt and will result in parents having a criminal record, but they allow the family to stay together.

“Whatever action is taken it must be in the best interests of the child involved.”

Please stick to The Topic.

The number of cases of children who have been subject to abuse, neglect and living in squalor is probably one of the greatest disgraces in modern Britain.

Children are regularly found competing for food with domestic animals, covered with faeces and parasites, stinking of urine in the freezing, filthy squalor of homes which resemble rubbish tips which require the wearing of masks and protective clothing by investigating authorities.

The mummified body of one little boy was found under a pile of soiled nappies in a filth strewn flat.

So there is no doubt that small children are subject to the horrors of daily neglect and are living in shameful conditions while their 'responsible' adult has for various reasons abandoned them sometimes for hours sometimes for days.

But do you know what ... there hasn't been one single occasion when someone has entered the house and stolen a child ... although there has been a recent case, very quickly exposed, when that was claimed.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

The thread title is actually a rhetorical question ... a growing problem in Britain seems to be leaving young children alone in sometimes squalid conditions so bad that parents are not only charged but do actual jail time.

There are many thousands of cases each year where no charges are made but alternate action has been taken.

In not one of these many cases has it been recorded that a child vanished, went missing, was abducted or just wandered off, despite neighbours reporting children  playing outside and in at least case running around in a state of undress while the responsible adult was off doing whatever they were doing.
