The Met obviously considered it a real possibility.

And when exactly did they say that ?

And you haven't answered my question ( I feel an 'I'll answer you after you've answered me' deflection coming on !! )

And the Guardian,,,

The source of the information was anonymous and its reliability unclear. The email was sent to Leicestershire police on March 4 this year but apparently not forwarded to Portuguese detectives until April 21.

You seem to have misunderstood.  Also from the Guardian, which PROVES that the Met seem to believe children being snatched to order is not an absurd notion as mooted by faithlilly:

The Metropolitan police email, from officer John Shord, reads: "Intelligence suggests that a paedophile ring in Belgium made an order for a young girl three days before Madeleine McCann was taken.

"Somebody connected to this group saw Maddie, took a photograph of her and sent it to Belgium.

Is this information in the files ?

BTW Alfie you haven't answered my question yet.
I have a list as long as my arm of questions you've refused to answer, so what makes you think I have to answer all yours?

That was a newspaper article. Surely information as important as that published must be in the files.

You never deflect do you Faithlilly?  Bless you.

Here's the answer to your question.

Yes.  I have heard of children being stolen to order.  It happens in China and India on a not infrequent basis.  I understand that paedophile rings operate on the basis that children with specific attributes that appeal to their members are targeted by their assailants, though I have to admit it's not my field of expertise so can't give you specifics, sorry,

Here is a rather harrowing account of a child being hunted and targetted specifically for the way he looked by a pair of paedophiles.  I doubt he was exceptionally out of the ordinary, and you could well ask, what made him so special.  You'll no doubt enjoy the article as it's by one of your favourite authors.

I trust this answer has been comprehensive enough for you, feel free to ask any more questions and rest assured I will do my best to provide you with the information you require.

I would also ask you to please remember the fact that I will always answer your queries and would ask please if you would kindly do the courtesy of answering all mine in future,  Many thanks in advance for your cooperation in this matter.

Oh right.  So the Telegraph made the whole thing up and the picture of the actual email from the Met an obvious forgery.  Silly me.

Horrendous case but the victim wasn't stolen to order. He was hunted down by paedophiles who then abused and murdered him.
