The phone records in Luz 2007 did not triangulate.

There were 3 servers.

Optimus had 3 antennas, cutting Luz into a 3-way pie.

TMN and Vodafone had 2 antennas each, both cutting Luz into W v E.

If the phone records triangulated, this would have been done and dusted around 9 years ago.

So not much chance of determining anything then other than a few people made phone calls.

Slightly more, but not a lot.

I happen to be of the opinion that the 2 OG digs to the E of Luz in June 2014 probably relate to phone calls made by Euclides Monteiro, but I do not get anywhere near to proving this.

And I have no reason to believe Mr Monteiro was up to anything illegal that night.

The part I can never get to grips with is why these allegedly super dooper criminal types are too bleedin' thick to use burner phones.
Clearly from expert documentation and testimony the only way to pinpoint a phone is if it has a GPS facility and even then in the United States [drivers] the accuracy expected is only 50 to 150 metres for GPS and 100 to 300 metres for networks. Taking a 300 metre diameter circle that's about 7 hectares, I don't know about Luz but in UK there could be up to 200 dwellings in 7 hectares.
I get the idea too many people are watching Person of Interest and NCIS and believing it's real.

I think you are probably about 5 levels of sophistication above the reality of Luz 2007.

Paper files for the PJ.

No DNA database.

No paedo database.

An Excel system that could not handle more than 64k calls.

I can just about believe that a burglar surprised inside a property by a screaming child might panic, put his hand over her mouth and possibly kill her by mistake.

I cannot imagine a burglar outside the property deciding to lift the child out, carry her away and then kill her in cold blood. He would just clear off. Had any of Heri's burglars shown any violent tendencies then maybe, but Mrs Fenn's burglar, for example, made no attempt to hurt her.
Precisely. Therefore the scenario advances to: window and shutter open, burglar gone, child in apartment.

The thread title mentions The Sun, but the article on the first page is from the Daily Mail. I thought it would be interesting to look at the original. It was written by Antonella Lazerri and the headline makes quite an astonishing claim;

Revealed: Brit cops 'know who snatched Maddie' - and think they have questioned him already

Lazzeri has a world exclusive then. The case has been solved; the British police have evidence that Madeleine was 'snatched' and they know who did it! The smaller headline is still sure who did it, but now the police 'believe' rather than 'know'. Perhaps they don't have evidence after all?

MADELEINE McCann was snatched during a botched robbery by a gang of thieves which included a 16-year-old youth, British police believe.

The article then embarks on a plethora of speculation about the last line of inquiry being followed by Operation Grange. We know it's speculation because;

Scotland Yard refused to discuss the final line of inquiry for operational purposes.
A spokesman said: "There is no comment while there is an on-going investigation."

So where did Ms Lazzeri get all the information about burglaries, men rowing on balconies and phone calls between the three arguidos?

Tada! A familiar name arises. She has been talking to..........Heriberto Janosch Gonzalez! He told SY all about two of the three suspects in 2013! The insinuation is that's the reason why they were 're-arrested' and interviewed a year later. Of course they weren't re-arrested as they weren't arrested previously, which, strangely, we are also told elsewhere in the article. Did she even check through what she said?

The article seems to think it's possible to pinpoint phone locations very accurately, by the way.

My opinion of this article is that it's made up of rumour, innuendo and speculation. There's an unattributed quote allegedly from a police officer complaining about the Portuguese blocking OG's request to re-interview the three, but Lazzeri also mentions a possible reason; no new evidence was offered by OG as to why the men should be re-interviewed.

You would assume they could clearly identify what they want to ask?

Haven't these men been interviewed before by the Portuguese and they did not see any point in re-interviewing them ?

Is it possible that the PT authorities would prefer it if this case remained a mystery forever?

The power of the imagination it seems knows no bounds.

The Portuguese interviewed the men, found nothing, end of story.

That would be the logical thing to do. If further formalities are required there has been plenty of time to accomplish getting the necessary paperwork in order.

Strange the alleged reason for Portuguese refusal is that there is no "new evidence".  If as alleged Scotland Yard wish to question these people further, it is in everyone's interest to get it done and dusted.

Not quite in everyone's interest though.  I'm sure whoever is responsible for the crime against against Madeleine is content that Scotland Yard's investigation has been allegedly blocked.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

There is that possibility.

I think the old order is changing ... but it hasn't as yet quite yielded to the new.
