In the UK there are strict rules relating to the questioning of suspects.  Within a specified period of time police must charge or release someone they have arrested in relation to a crime.

I don't think the rules relate to questioning...but to holding a suspect in custody

If SY have valid questions that they would like asking, they will have submitted them to PT. If PT agree, they will ask, unless they have already asked the questions.

PT will not give SY free reign as it could jepodise any future trial due to incorrect process.

If SY have good reason they can clearly state it and there shouldn't be an issue.

That's my understanding as well.

That's right - the judiciary. Who would you prefer to make the choice - the police?

Within PT, SY is bound by the laws of Portugal, whatever any forum poster on here might think.

There was a story running around the time the 4 guys were made arguidos that SY wanted DNA samples from them 'at any cost' and the request was refused.  As to how true that story is, who knows.

The principle is still the same.  Any SY request has to be legal under PT law, otherwise it is useless in a prosecution.

Why reject a valid request?  Why approve a non-valid request? It makes no sense.

And why believe that The Sun has got a leak from OG?  It makes no sense.
What's up, old man?

That's the way it seems to usually work in an investigation on foreign soil, though. JITs don't appear to be frequent, unfortunately. I can understand why even though I find it to be a shame.

Cite if you please.

Do I detect supporters and now crying for the PJ to be 'breaking the law' by toruring and denying human rights to 'innocent' people who have  had other people make claims that they dunit?

Turn up for the books- In previous threads the supporters were making all sorts of claims about the PJ and their tatics with reference to the 'innocent ' McCanns.

Do we think the Portuguese could just this once, fit them 'suspects' up by making a temporary change in the law but revert back when people scream about unfairness of the McCanns light treatment? I will email the PM of both countries to see what can be done.

Kate refused to answer questions and ran off back to the UK.. with a extradition lawyer on tap if needed be. Cute!

So to summerise:-
SY still don't know  or have an idea but no evidence, to establish there where abouts of Madeleine Beth McCann.
They are pinning the blame on the PJ or is that the McCanns 'people' doing that? either way we have a missing child who was left alone by her parents, in an unlocked apartment...

Exactly!  This has been written and pointed out before SLarty.

How would sceptics feel if the PJ announced it wanted to question the McCanns again but were blocked by the UK authorities on the basis that there was no new evidence?
