If a burglar did open that shutter it would wake the child who would run to another room IMO.
So, in your opinion, it woke Madeleine

Why didn't it waken the twins, who were closer to the sound ?

The twins sleep habits are not afaiw a benchmark for all sleeping kids on hlday, moving on

They might do and even if they do there is no evidence when and if any child woke up and if they did whether they went back to sleep so not a very good place for speculation as to what those particular children (or any others unattended) actually did on that night or any other night

That would imply the other two couples checking via the front door were being very inconsiderate to their children.

Surely they should also have checked via their patio doors.  After all, it would have saved them perhaps 30 or 40 seconds on each check.

So deeply that their mother had to check they were breathing. Strange really as one cried on Tuesday and the other cried on Wednesday when all was peaceful and quiet.

You've had children so you will surely know that sometimes children wake and cry in the night, and sometimes New Year's eve fireworks right outside their bedroom window won't cause them to stir.  Do you find this strange?  I don't.

But Kate McCann obviously did or she wouldn't have checked that they were breathing and, as she recounts in her book, alert the police to their comatose state.

Her book is wrong she never alerted police to their comatose state

It's very strange that they all were alleged to have woken on previous nights but no way did it happen on the night she disappeared. Are you having a laff?

The apologists to the possibility the mccanns were involved  try logical arguments which fail, some have a laugh, some are stumped

The only fact in this whole case is that no one knows what happened

And the mccanns are the only ones that know if they are innocent or not

So, whats the next step

There is evidence by the parents that the children were not deep sleepers during the night.  So, why leave them!
oh oh no wait hang on Kate knew this so left a door unlocked for Maddie to 'come get them sitting in the back garden'. .. which  she had a road with traffic to cross and a swimming pool, no chance of anything dangerous happening there now is there.

I know but I was simply rebutting Alfie's post by presenting Kate's own, embroidered, recollections.

The fact that one of her children had just vanished and the window in their bedroom had apparently been opened might have had something to do with her raised anxiety levels about their breathing don't you think?
