Plausible but doesn't explain the body language or her near positive identification?

Don't ye know that every journalist looks like Gerry and speaks with a Glasgow accent?

"I think he had a notebook in his left hand and I think he was holding the phone in his right hand. The notebook seemed to be the type that journalists use. He seemed very upset and the way he was acting and with the notebook I assumed he was an actor or journalist".

She thought he was a journalist first off.  So that's a clear point in support of him being a journo.  He "seemed" upset - perhaps he was?  Journos get upset too, maybe it was anger or struggling to be heard by the person on the other end?  who knows.  As for the positive identification, well - there have been people who swear blind that they have seen Madeleine McCann since she disappeared, do we believe them or are they likely mistaken?

It was broad daylight and he passed within two feet of her.  Then again Jane Tanner did the same and neither men saw her??

Martin Smith claimed he saw Gerry but it was impossible if witnesses at the tapas are to be believed. Carolyn Kish was so convinced it was him she put the identification at 99.99%.  Others claimed they saw Robert Murat outside apartment 5a on the night that Madeleine disappeared yet his mother stated he was indoors all evening.  These things do happen in the fog of any investigation and detectives have to be careful not to be misled by them.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.

But she'd never clapped eyes on Gerry until months later and only decided then it was him. No room for error...?

I'm afraid you have interpreted the story incorrectly Alfie.  The months later bit was the conversation with resort owner Roman Stern.  Don't you think Carolyn would have seen the news from PdL most nights like everyone else?

Oh really?

"I don't usually watch or follow news. But months after this saw a news report on the local TV station at home. The footage showed the father of the missing girl. At that point I realised it was the man I had seen on the occasion above. I had not seen this picture before, but I am as sure as can be that he is the person" - Carolyn Kish statement.

She must be one of a minority then who never heard the story of Madeleine McCann.

Have you actually read her statement?  She didn't say she'd never heard the story of Madeleine McCann, in fact she was told that a girl had disappeared when she went into the bank directly after seeing this man who she thought (later) was Gerry.

I find it difficult to comprehend how anyone within a few miles of Luz hadn't heard of the alleged abduction by day four and seen footage of the McCanns.  Quite bizarre considering it was on just about every news channel, in most newspapers and was being talked about constantly?

Well, imagine you were on holiday up the coast, staying in your own holiday home and didn't speak the local language or watch the telly or purchase English language newspapers.  Why would you necessarily know about this event before Day 4 of the disappearance?

That would be because the ex-pats lived on Sky etc.
What's up, old man?

I'm sorry I don't understand your comment.  What would be because?

Thank you misty as always.  By the way what was the discrepancy you mentioned earlier on in this thread?

Roman said the lady at the children's party, CK, was a lady in her early 30's. The CV of Carolyn in the files reads that she attended Harrow College of Art in 1978/79 - which must have made her at least 47 in 2007 as she had done A levels at boarding school.
There is also an interesting connection in her full name to someone of the same surname involved in an Espiche charity discussed on another thread.
