Is that like The Schleswig Holstein Question , The Spanish Inquisition, The Ipcress File or even The Quiller Memorandum?.
Without Mitchell it would have all vanished in a puff of green like a panto wizaaaard, long ago
Look on the postive side Katie Archibald is doing well so far this week.

And it's sceptics who are thought to believe wild conspiracy theories  @)(++(*

Can you provide a cite for either RM or GM being officially asked such a question by the PJ when statements were taken? Did this situation manifest itself after the Tapas 3 placed RM outside 5a on the night of the 3rd?

Not sure why you're asking me to provide a cite as I made no claim. Also not sure why you think the PJ would ask either GM or RM if they knew each other. Was there any reason why the PJ would think they would know each other?

More pertinently, was there any reason why the journalist would think they knew each other?

She was chancing her arm and hoping for a connection ?

Tell you what misty if the PJ were trying to connect GM and RM why is there absolutely no sign of it in the files?

WTF!

Let Google be your friend. Most of it makes more sense than Mitchells ludicrous "Portuguese agenda".
It was a shame your boys were stuffed by the Gold and Greens but that's life.

Many things don't make the files, Faith, including the deal the PJ offered KM for a reduced sentence, the person who saw K&G with the black bag & the lady who reportedly saw the boot to the Scenic open several nights on the trot.
You need to ask why the journalist wanted to link RM to the McCanns if RM was only suspected of being the abductor.

Firstly Kate wasn't offered a deal. She was simply told that if she admitted that her daughter had died in an accident she would serve less time than if she was found guilty of murder. That was simply the truth. Even her lawyer at the time admitted that the 'deal' had been a misunderstanding.

Secondly the main protagonist's statements made it to the files and not one single question to any one of them whether they knew each other. Why do you think that was?

The "misunderstanding" wasn't reported in the available files, was it?

The McCanns were not officially questioned between 10th May & 5th September & there is no record of what discussions took place between them & the PJ during that period. RM made 3 statements during that period yet the question of familiarity doesn't appear to have been asked by the PJ - despite the fact he was under suspicion of abduction. Wasn't that remiss, if motive was part of the process, or were the PJ working only on the theory of collusion by investigating his movements & contacts?

There was a misunderstanding so they say.  What was said is just guess.

It would be a reasonable question to ask wouldn't it?

To ask if you know someone is not an incriminating question, so it is a reasonable question to put forward toward a witness.

In context with the previous questions by the media & answers provided by GM, it was an odd question to ask imo.

If the answer was flatly a "No" I think that would be the preferred answer and that is the answer that would have popped out.  Once you say "I won't comment on that" it leaves people questioning any connection. So I tend to think it leans more to a "Yes" rather than a "no".
