Is that where the idea that the Attorney General wrote a report came from? It was written by those whose names appear at the end of it;
The Republic's Prosecutor
José de Magalhaes e Menezes
The Joint General Prosecutor
Joao Melchior Gomes
The Attorney General was Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro,
The archiving report was obviously signed off by the AG although there doesn't seem to be a copy in the files. However, the format of the summary is the same as the one used at the Appeal Court stage, so clearly 2 prosecutors & the AG had no issue with the article under which the case was shelved.
Unfortunately for the AG, it appears he was not whiter than white. Is there really no end to the extent of corruption on the Portuguese side of Madeleine's case? (I see also he was involved with the Portuguese Football Federation, another area attracting much negative press)
