The question arises... Why didn't Mrs Fenn do this..

Perhaps because she had no connection to the OC.
What's up, old man?

Mrs Fenn's wit stat states she heard crying which in her opinion was from a child MM's age and emanated from 5A.  The crying and calling 'Daddy, daddy' started around 10.30 pm and ended around 11.45 pm at which time she heard the patio doors slide open.  What can reasonably be inferred from this:

- MM was home alone
- The patio doors were unlocked

Mrs Fenn's wit stat also states she called local friend Edna Glyn to discuss the siutation.  What can reasonably be inferred from this:

- PF was discussing with others
- Others may have discussed with others
- Others may have overheard

So yes imo the perp was someone who gleaned intelligence from PF that:

- MM was home alone without adult supervision/baby monitor
- Patio doors were unlocked

I had already worked out that the information came from PF.

It sort of narrows, the field

Perhaps because she had no connection to the OC.

I don't see that, as a valid reason

Not really because we don't know who PF imparted the info to and who in turn they imparted to and who might have overheard.  We only know from PF's wit stat she discussed with Edna Glyn.
Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

PF was an elderly lady enjoying her twilight years not some sort of remote unpaid child minder/social worker.

You are giving your opinion which is fine ...but it isn't fact
If CT had entered the apartment through an unlocked door.. to investigate a distressed child she, would be committing no offence

As I understand it you break the law if you enter someone else's premises through an unlocked door or window without permission.

Ooooo ooooo Davel don't forget too PF sustained an attempted burglary a few days before the McCanns arrival.  PF's wit stat:

She claims however, that a week previously she was the victim of an attempted robbery, which was not successful and neither was anything taken, thinking that the crying of the child could be linked to another attempted robbery in the residence.

Do you think the perp might have 'staged' the window and shutter from within to throw PF and investigators perhaps with knowledge gleaned from PF?

I would say it narrows the field... According to you the perp had received information from or second hand from Mrs fenn

I'm not sure where the law stands English or Portuguese but in any event I think its (to coin a word from Davel) ridiculous to expect an elderly lady in her 80's to enter into an apartment during the hours of darkness to interfere with distressed children that she had no connection with.

Yes I've always maintained the field is narrow.

You've moved this on from hypothesising. We are trying to establish a justifiable reason for anyone to enter, short of imminent danger.
I think we've established it.

I think we've established it.

But even if a justifiable reason existed for anyone to enter what possible justification existed to remove MM?

Well there obviously is one......by fair means or fowl, by hook or by crook, dead or alive!
And there are only a finite number of reasonable hypothesis; all of which have been wrung dry.
