Her statement does not answer the question as to how she knew the McCann family were in the apartment immediately below her if she only saw them on the streets. From her vantage point, how could she tell which apartment the McCann family, as opposed to the Paynes or JT/ROB departed from before seeing them on the streets?

Misty she was a retired 80 year old widow who resided directly above 5A full-time.  I doubt much escaped her attention.

The McCanns were having breakfast and lunch in their apartment returning at 5.30 pm with the children.  I would imagine PF saw/heard the McCanns especially if the respective occupants of 5A and 5G were sat out on their balconies and/or the McCann children were playing in the small garden.
Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

Carole Tranmer could not fully describe the man she saw leaving by 5B's gateway because she only saw him from above. Given that the McCanns often left the apartment separately with a differing number of children each time, how observant do you think that 80 year old lady was when leaning over her balcony?

PF was living directly above the McCanns for 5 days when MM disappeared.  CAT was only visiting and according to her rog visited on the Sun and Thu.

CAT claims she observed a man acting suspiciously but we don't know whether she actually saw anyone.  She may have wanted to mislead the investigation eg Wearside Jack; or just want to be part of something; or using it to deflect blame.

She claims she alerted PF and her husband to the man at the time but they were too engrossed in conversation to hear.  Given PF had recently sustained an attempted burglary, and assuming she told CAT why wouldn't she make sure PF heard?

It was at this point that I turned to my aunt and my husband and exclaimed 'That was really very strange', but they were talking and very involved in the conversation (inaudible). I became involved in the conversation and did not think anymore about the incident.

The earliest either of those ladies would have had chance to gossip locally about the crying would have been the Wednesday morning. Surely the crying was insignificant to Mrs Fenn as it didn't prevent her from sleeping on the Tuesday night and was even more meaningless to Edna Glyn. Furthermore PF could not possibly have known that the children in 5A had been left without adult supervision, given that occupancy of the apartment changed on at least a weekly basis if not more frequently.

You don't know who was with EG when PF phoned.

The crying was significant enough for PF to call a local friend late at night to discuss.

Misty PF's wit stat makes clear she knew who the McCanns were as she saw them walking around.  Consider the McCanns entering and exiting via the side gate as they did during the day along with the children and PF sat out on her balcony.  Yes PF did know the children were left unsupervised in 5A in the unsecured apartment based on the crying which ceased when she heard the patio doors slide open.

Sorry but I disagree almost entirely with all that.
If Mrs Fenn KNEW the children were alone and crying...if Mrs Fenn had experienced a home intrusion days before....why, oh why would she have "phoned a friend", chatted for 75mins  & let the crying continue rather than contacting OC reception or the GNR? Did she care so little about what may be unfolding downstairs & so little that the episode didn't warrant mentioning to the parents the following morning?
She could see precious little of 5A sitting on her balcony, let alone the side gate. Furthermore, the sliding of the patio door may have been a babysitter leaving rather than the parents returning - she was indoors & didn't witness anything visually.

‘My theory is that someone abducted MM from 5A having gleaned knowledge of the McCanns nighttime MO.  Its possible PF may have unwittingly been the source of that knowledge’. (Holly)

Didn’t Robert Murat say that a woman phoned him up on the night of the crying coming from 5A?

Was he not in England on that day/night ?

Hi Jassi, he must have been. If I remember correctly the statement was made by a police officer re. Murat saying an unknown woman phoned him on the night of the crying.

Murat left Exeter at 7am on Tuesday, 1 May it seems. Presumably he was in Lagos (with Mikhaela) or Praia da Luz (with Jenny)  on the evening of 1 May?

Hi Holly, according to your theory, who are the persons who might have gained information from Pamela Fenn that 5A was occupied by three young children each night without parental presence?

Furthermore, why does Holly believe PF is the only person outside the Tapas group who knew the kids were being left unattended each evening?

Hi Anthro.  I've no idea as I don't know who PF discussed with other than her local friend Edna Glyn as per her wit stat.  And obviously I've no idea who EG might have discussed with.  But basically these ladies were potentially, and unwittingly, letting others know small children were home alone in an unsecured apartment.
Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

That's clearly not the case since JW/BO knew.

Mrs Fenn's statement was in August, some 3/4 months after the fact, time for an embellishment, possibly, maybe, maybe not.
