But what is the 'wrong direction' angle based on?
Surely the fact DCI Redwood discussed with the family what they were doing that evening and is almost certain Dr T and Tannerman are one and the same means that as far as DCI Redwood is concerned Dr T was walking in the right direction? If I was DCI Redwood and knew Dr T was walking in right direction I would say 'almost certain' as it can't be 100% ruled out that 2 men of similar appearance carrying a child of similar appearance were in the vicinity at a similar time. But what would be the odds of all these similarities occurring in a small resort low season?
Perhaps dr Totman was walking with his daughter at 21:15, but from the night creche towards his apartment but Jane Tanner did not see him either because:
- she didn’t leave the table at that time, hence not seeing Gerry and Jeremy chatting (see Heri’s theory) nor dr Totman or
- she saw a man with a girl at 21h40 walking away from block 5, hence Colin Sutton’s remarks on the ID Mystery Channel that dr Totman was taking his daughter from the night creche to the apartment, and that police might well be looking at
another Tannerman. It is the first time I’ve heard an official actually naming Julian Totman.
That could explain the ‘revelation moment’ i.e. discovering the
direction
