OK, Gotchya. Makes sense.
Was he that calculating? And surely there was every chance he would have been overpowered by the hulking Nevil. I know now that he was a decent marksman, but with a .22 rifle in close proximity to a moving target in a confined area, it's not the ideal weapon if it goes noisy. He'd know that he had to take the limitations of the weapon in to account.
I dunno. I can't picture it to be honest; the sequence doesn't make any sense. He's done it, of that there's no question for me, but is there a chance there was an accomplice?

Absolutely so..............imo!!!! And don't forget that we're looking at this with the benefit of that wonderful tool, hindsight. The fears/doubts WE have probably weren't on Jeremy's radar. He'd have believed he'd covered all bases. Was there an accomplice? Mmm? The only possibility, again, imo, is Sheila, whom he firstly coerced into doing something advantageous to them both, and finally double-crossed in the cruelest way possible.

Can anyone be arsed walking an ignorant newbie through the definitive steps of the actual act?
Or is there a timeline, step by step, that someone could equally be arsed or not arsed to point me to?
I'm curious as to how he managed 5 people in different rooms and on different floors.

There are no witness's to the crime so we can only speculate as to what occurred.

Which of the forensic evidence found in the house point to Sheila as the perpetrator, that’s what I would like to know, and that is the subject of this thread.

I doubt there is any. Were her fingerprints on the gun and, if so, were they in the right orientation to conduct such a shot. TWICE?

From what I read, there was one fingerprint from Sheila on the gun, and one from Jeremy. Can't even remember where I read it; I've read so much stuff on this case lately, that I don't remember where it all came from! I might even be wrong, but there are a number of people on here who know the case far better than I do.

Examination of the rifle

69.    The rifle was a German made Anschutz model 525 .22 self-loading rifle in good working order. Cartridges are loaded into a magazine, which has a capacity of 10. It is, as the jury found when they conducted the exercise themselves, progressively harder to load as the number of cartridges increases. Loading the tenth is exceptionally hard. Assuming a full capacity at the commencement of the shooting at the farm, the discharge of the rifle twenty-five times would require it to be re-loaded a minimum of two more times.

70.    The stock was damaged, with a piece of wood missing.  The broken piece of wood found on the floor in the kitchen was the missing part of the stock.

71.    The rifle bore blood smearing on the barrel in the region of the fore-sight and around the mechanism and there were splashes of blood to the left side of the weapon. The appearance of the blood staining was consistent with it having been used to strike somebody who was already bleeding. On analysis the blood was found to be human blood but tests to determine grouping were unsuccessful.  A “pull-through” on the barrel of the rifle was conducted for any traces of blood within the weapon. There were none.

72.    The weapon was also examined for fingerprints. A print from the appellant’s right forefinger was found on the breech end of the barrel, above the stock and pointing across the gun and Sheila Caffell’s right ring fingerprint was found on the right side of the butt, pointing downwards. There were three further finger marks on the rifle, each of insufficient detail for identification purposes.

Hi General

You might recall we met on the MM board.  Are you still upsetting the mods over there?! Nice to see you here anyway

See point 72 above in Myster's post.

Some surfaces are difficult to recover latent fingerprints from firearms being one such example due to textured surfaces and the coating on firearms known as bluing.

I will send you a copy of my email exchange with a lecturer in forensic science and expertise in fingerprints.

Just my opinion of course but Jeremy Bamber is innocent and a couple from UK, unknown to T9, abducted Madeleine McCann - motive unknown.  Was J J murdered as a result of identifying as a goth?

Welcome to this thread Herr General!

I also wonder about the sequence of events- we all discussed this (family) and came up with our own version of what we would go about this.

Best effort was: shoot the twins first- then sheila- not quite dead- nevile hears something and wakes up- get shot as he makes for downstairs-  June gets a bullet then JB goes to finish off Neville- then back upstairs to finish off sheila and place the gun on her.

Are you able to expand on the above?  Victims sustained a total of 26 gunshot wounds.

We couldn't agree on that. I did think his 'acting' like he thought a maniac would by going back and forth shooting into victims. My friends wondered why sheila only had two gunshot wounds the others had many and the savage beating of the father led her to believe this was a male bull venting anger and frustration. If I t was sheila and she didn't get on with both parents we are led to believe why not give the mother a good thrashing as well?

Anyway. this is just what you are doing.. thinking what may have happened.

The victims sustained a total of 26 gsw's as per pathological evidence and spent casings.

There's no evidence NB sustained a "savage beating".

I suppose it depends on one's definition of "savage beating". Nevill gave a more than reasonable impression of having received one. To label it otherwise is just splitting hairs.

Is there any evidence that Sheila beat him at all?
