I'd say it's relevant. Luke became the man of the home and his mother no longer had control or authority over him. Without a father figure there he was allowed to smoke, take drugs and pretty much do as he pleased. He could tell his mother to break the law for him when buying him knives below the legal age and also lying about his age to get a tattoo. All very relevant to the case. Corinne told Samantha Polling she "doesn't know" what she would do if Luke came home covered in blood and asked for her help, and that she'd have to be in that position to know if she could. She wouldn't deny on camera that she would help her son cover up the murder of a 14 year old girl.  \
Family background and the dynamics of the Mitchell household is important when trying to figure out how this could have happened.

Do we know if Luke regularly bought Kerrang? Did he buy it this time because of the DVD? I know I wouldn't want to view anything graphic or violent after what happened. Then again, I'd never want to see another knife either but the murder of his girlfriend using a knife did nothing to reduce his knife fascination. Writing RIP Jodi on a knife sheath in these circumstances isn't normal and you know it. And why "666" in the tribute?

I’m sorry but you don’t read a book and suddenly become a psychologist. I’m sure the book simply confirmed your bias.
