A brief check would only have shown the current registered owner, who was of no interest at all. And since The PJ weren't exactly quick off the mark, if they even bothered to check anything, then it probably no longer matters.
Apparently, Brueckner then trailered the Jaguar back to Germany very shortly afterwards. But didn't give the car to the new registered owner.
I personally don't much care about the Jaguar. But Brueckner was up to something. And Brueckner's phone was in Luz that night. Was he there with it?
OK, I have pointed out the wording on the BKA site about the registration of the jag, how illogical it would be to do such a thing the day after and that Wolters has said the jag was in Germany when Madeleine went missing so lets leave the jag.
Regarding the phone call the wording on the BKA website is also slightly less than definite it says:
"
In addition, he was almost certainly using the Portuguese mobile number +351 912 730 680 at the time"
The use of the word
almost indicates a lack of certainty in their belief that it was CB on the phone.
How would it hold up in court if they said “We are almost certain it was him on the phone”?
