Its still opinion with no real evidence to support it
Do you advocate getting rid of expert witnesses?

Well they all give opinions;

An Expert Witness can be anyone with knowledge or experience of a particular field or discipline beyond that to be expected of a layman. The Expert Witness’s duty is to give to the Court or tribunal an impartial opinion on particular aspects of matters within his expertise which are in dispute.

It would be interesting to hear an expert's opinion on how accurately the location of a mobile phone could be known in the PdL area on 3rd May 2007.  I think this statement would be shown to be misleading, depending on what was meant by 'near';

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters recently told 60 Minutes a phone linked to the prime suspect had been used near the holiday apartment on the night the three-year-old vanished.

I don't know if profilers, statement analysts or body language experts have given evidence in the courts as expert witnesses, but cadaver dog handlers have.

Wasn't the profilers aspect heavily criticised in the Stagg case , having it fall through.

Are you not interested in another experts opinion on the dog alerts. Imo you and many others have been taken in by some of the things said about the alerts in this case and have questioned them objectively

Wasn't the profilers aspect heavily criticised in the Stagg case , having it fall through.

In that case Paul Britton, the profiler, had his evidence thrown out by the judge and the prosecution withdrew it's case against Stagg.

Paul Britton was charged with professional misconduct by the British Psychological Society but in 2002, further action was dismissed due to the time delay in bringing proceedings

Amaral didn't think Brueckner had dreadlocks or cartoon characters on his van.  Amaral lied.  We don't know why he lied.  We only know that he did lie.

I know Eleanor sorry I was being sarcastic.   He was quick to show those photo's,   we can only wonder why.   I think he should be questioned about them.

No need to apologise.  I can be a bit sarcastic myself.

I think Amaral should be questioned about those fake photos.  But apparently this doesn't come under Portuguese Law, despite interfering with the course of justice.

Hey Ho.  We all know what Portuguese Law amounts to.

All this proves is that some so-called experts aren't all that.

Goodness me.  Are you saying that Portuguese Justice is corrupt?

Who'd a thought it?

No.  Just trying to catch a criminal that The Portuguese ignored.  And not for the first time.

I don't think the example you have quoted is an accurate one.  Anyone capable of interpreting the phone data would not be expressing an opinion - s/he would be explaining a measurable and provable fact.

The presence of Brueckner's phone is not in question either - it is perhaps one of the first indicators which brought him to the attention of Scotland Yard.

You have not cited a direct quote from Mr Wolters - you have cited someone else saying what he said.   Which may be accurate then on the other hand it may not be, given that it is lifted from a once much despised tabloid.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....
