It doesn't look like he was paid for anything, so that's a non-starter.
He could have done it for his own gratification, but it seems quite an offending leap from touching himself in the park to abduction, rape, murder and disposal of a nursery age child.

I'm sure we all know people who have been victims of people like Brueckner, however minor the crime.

Well, I suppose he could burgle me, if he gets out & can make it across the channel, but I don't think he'd rape me, he seems to prefer females by all accounts.
