Amaral pays little attention to the sniffer dogs in his book; he doesn't mention them in relation to the Tanner sighting.  I understood Jane Tanner was perceived to have changed her story, embellished it and so on. Also the fact that she wasn't seen by Gerry and Jez.

What?

Have you read chapter 16 of the book?

Why would Amaral tie in reference to the dogs and reference to Jane Tanner's sighting?

I think Jane says she saw someone carrying a child past the apartments so that must mean the person came into the scene and then left it.  i.e. Walked past the end of the road.  Her initial assessment wasn't that Tannerman was carrying one of the children (MM) away from the scene.

If it was creche man he has come from the creche.
If it was another tenant he/she has come from his/her apartment.
If it was an abductor he has come from the apartment 5A.

Only one of those would be tracked by the tracker dogs if the towel was Madeleine's.

But just whose scent were the tracker dogs tracking?  Did the towel have the scent of the almost certainly sweaty lifter/abductor on it?

Well can we take a guess and say it didn't have Tanner sighting scent on it. For they did not go along that road.

Not at the time of the Tanner sighting, but did the person or persons allegedly involved walk that way from a vehicle .... which I think was likely parked on the parking area opposite the Tapas Reception and adjacent to the rear gate of the western end of block 6?

This precisely where the dogs scented to.

I think that is an option we'll have to consider - cars leaving the carpark.

I dont think that Tannerman ever intended to walk around PdL with Madeleine in his arms.  He expected to be picked up by a get away vehicle parked in the little parking area opposite the Tapas Reception.   He probably waited a short time in the dark areas of the front car park ready to be picked up at the entrance to block 5 car park

I think the driver of the vehicle left the car park intent on picking Tannerman and Madeleine up, but saw Gerry talking to Jez in the way so dallied ... and then saw Jane witness Tannerman with Madeleine.

I think that Tannerman, with Madeleine in his arms, was fraught with anxiety at the delay, so was walking to the corner to see what had happened to the get away vehicle .... when Jane suddenly appeared.  He made a rapid decision to walk across the road and quickly disappear from her vision.

On seeing this, the get away driver took fright and drove off in the opposite direction (south).

So leaving Tannerman in the lurch ... holding the baby, so to speak.

If you're suggesting that the dogs were following the scent down the path of people involved in an abduction you have to explain the dogs' interest in 5H and 4G after sniffing the very same scent source.

For someone who claims to have close contact with SY I suggest you listen to them.  Tannerman was an innocent tourist according to Redwood.

Madeleine walked down to that car park every day on her way to the Junior Children's Club.  Little wonder the doggies followed her scent.

Was 4G immediately opposite 5A ...near where the fags were found on the balcony ?

Was apartment where IIRC Mrs Fenns niece observed two men on a balcony looking towards 5A?

Or

The apartment where a man was observed coming down the back garden and looking around himself before very quietly shutting the garden gate ?  He was unaware that he was being watched.

You're overlooking the (vital) incorrect translation in the statement of the s&r dog handler http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/ANTONIO_SILVA.htm

*snipped*
That after having given the sniffer dog the towel and next to the residence of the missing girl, more specifically, next to apartment block 5A and 5, the first sniffer dog headed toward the door of that apartment. Immediately afterward, he headed in the direction of block 4, returned around block 5, and came down a road that exists between this block and the leisure area (pools, restaurants, etc). He turned right; in the direction of the aforementioned apartment and headed toward the main road. There, he crossed the street and next to the wall of block 6, turned right, and headed toward the contiguous parking area. More concretely, he headed next to a light post and sniffed the ground around that post. After this, he crossed the street again and headed toward the access zone to the restaurants and pool area, sniffing the door which was closed at that time. He again went to the parking zone, and at that point, lost the scent.

G-Unit picked up on this before. The translation actually says "turned left" - ie, in the direction of the aforementioned apartment and the main road.
