Ferryman and Anne I will leave you to argue about  the distinctions and titles for the various  dogs used and if they are tracking or trailing dogs. If the dogs that were used when the Mccanns were asked to provide a scented article were not scent discriminating to a person, there would have been no point them asking for it!

SAR dogs look for humans
There are SAR dogs that look for ANY human
There are SAR dogs that look for ONE human

Witness Statement of Antonio Freitas Silva
Date: 2007.05.09
Location: DIC Portimao
Occupation: 1st Sergeant GNR
Location: GNR-Queluz

The deponent states that:
- He comes to the process in the role of Chief of the GNR Search and Rescue Team.

Search and rescue dogs track the generic human scent ...

ive explained to you sar dogs are generic or specific, that is a fact you just cannot spin in anyway shape  or form
Tracker dogs may be used to find criminals or suspects.
In the Madeleine McCann case, they were first used to find her trail, supposing she wandered off or had been carried away by someone, since JT spoke of her sighting rather soon.

That is what ive been saying all night, it doesnt matter what you call them, they WERE the type of dogs to track  individuals scents, SAR search and rescue is to rescue humans, any human or a single human specifically, goodnight Anne

So if you say that about the SAR dogs, do you agree that they picked the scent up from the Apartment into the car park , and then the scent vanished...it is in the files as you well know

Yes dear muratfan, the trail was like this, maddie went out of her flat turned left and ran around the back of the flats and back up the alley and down to the tapas bar entrace, where the twins were dropped off and then ran over to the car park which was the shortcut entrance to her own creche, which her dad took her to every day, these movements are confirmed by gerry mccann

The trail was never about her being carried by tanner man or smithman

Which suggests Maddie left 5a concealed somehow so as to not shed skin cells, perspiration and other things scent dogs follow

Or perhaps her scent would have been concealed ?

you are seriously damaging your credibility here if you are accusing me of fantasy when i am detailing what the sar dogs found

Who is talking BS here, YOU obviously, is it only me who thinks you are sounding desperate to be attacking facts? Lol

The dogs used to find Madeleine's scent trail were not sniffer/detection dogs, such as drugs or explosives dogs, they were SAR dogs, search and rescue, with scent discrimination. If they were not, no clothing or items with her scent on would have been requested.

A search and rescue dog trained to find an individual and unique scent would be able to find, only, the individual and unique scent of the person it was primed to find, not much use to all the other poor souls trapped and in need of rescue ...

So the tracker dogs could distinguish Madeleine's scent and track her route.

They could yes.  Problem being she walked around the block every day so old scent can be confused with new scent.

Would they have walked between block 5 and Block 4?

Also, airborne scent only of a little girl on a gusty night ?  Unlikely IMO John ... but I am no expert.

The air scenting seems to have been introduced to the forum 3 years ago by Ferryman in this thread. I don't seem to have found any cites for how SAR dogs work and if they cannot follow trails.

Why do you think she walked that way every day John?
