vindicated? It seems that the Portuguese are about to begin the search for the abductor...6 years too late...and for six years amaral has denied the abductor existed. amaral is one of the reasons the search has been delayed six years..vindictive is more accurate

Yes, and I'd say its something SY may have found, in the files that was missed or put in the NR box.

"The Portuguese authorities ponder reopen the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, following the analysis by PJ Port over the past two years".

The PJ and Leicestershire police searched for an abductor during the first 3 months after Maddie disappeared and came up with nothing. So don't come with your rants that they never looked for an abductor!! As I have said several times, an investigation here does not have one remit, such as abduction. All evidence and leads have to be looked into. Don't count your chickens before they hatch!

I think chickens coming home to roost would be more apt

Most - if not all Police forces in the World would never close a case of a missing child.

Let me emphasise my post above:

who on earth took the decision to say we will not look for a missing child anymore?

from a translator on another thread:

Certainly, a fortiori because this request of reopening is an initiative of the  4 PJ officers team who still works in Porto for the sake of SY. It seems they have identified witnesses who weren't investigated or nor enough. They went to the Algarve many times to collect informations that led them to ask the MP to reopen the case in order to investigate formally those witnesses.
This work shouldn't be confused with the work ot the Faro team which has been created to execute the requests of SY through the rogatory mission.

Start of story on front of Mirror:

Police in Portugal are to re-open their search for Madeleine McCann.

The move comes after British cold case detectives uncovered new leads into the three-year-old's 2007 abduction. Algarve officers ended their botched probe after just a year.

Its police  prerogative if they come to a decision a child is likely dead and or parents involved to not waste further resources,, on bogus searches for an alive child,THEIR prerogative NOT yours, if u have a problem go offer your services brass neck
 8-)(--)

police did indeed come to that conclusion but other police spent more energy time and money on the case for another six months ingrate....pj have not closed the case, yucome up with a single example of the uk police looking for  an alledgedly abducted child with no evidence for more than a year then  youcan pretend to be the pope and pontificate, look forward to it sweet potato

The case was not closed but shelved. The parents could have prevented the case from being shelved but they chose not to. BTW, this is the only case of a missing child in Portugal that has not remained open which was the solution found by Pinto Monteiro, the attorney general at the time. Strange decision, very strange.

I wonder if new genuine eye witnesses have come forward in regards to those Smithman efits re Crimewatch.
Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.
