The buttons aren't really that important. We should focus on the timeline. What time did Kate raise the alarm? Anyone? Because, I've presented evidence it was raised before 10pm. Evidence Gerry suggested they all split up & search & evidence of a Gerrylike man in coincidental trousers uncomfortably carrying an inert Maddie in the wrong pyjamas & who's status of life was noticeably questionable, off past an Irish family toward the beach never to be seen again. So maybe Brueckner did it?

According to Spam he?s already moved the body to wasteland a few minutes down the road.  Why risk moving it a second time for thr sake of another few minutes distance?  Are the police really going to conclude that an extra 5 minutes distance means the parents must be in the clear?  Absolute nonsense!

I think Spams scenario goes something like this, Vertigo, Maddie has to be gone from the apartment when the Tapas 7 rush there after the alarm is raised, so Gerry moves the body a short distance to waste land on his first check once it is pitch black. To move the body to its final resting place at that time would have taken way too long and caused suspicion.
But, after the alarm is raised, no one would be at all suspicious if Gerry disappeared for several minutes or even an hour or more searching for his daughter!

He spent such a noticeably, to Jane Tanner, length of time away from the table at 9pm that she felt cause to question it. Then, Maddie disappears, then, Gerry suggests they split up & search, then, there's the Smith sighting. It explains it's self really.

You're searching for a definitive theory based on an almost indiscernible timeline. I say almost indiscernible. When you add Matt's time evidence to Russell's dinner evidence it becomes clear the alarm was raised earlier than Mr McCann claimed it was.

No I can't believe for one minute that Gerry carried his daughter in a panic and dumped her on waste ground to move her later.  He was at the table eating his dinner.  Behaving normally chatting and laughing.  Jeremy to whom he had spoken to on his way back to the Tapas Bar after checking on Madeleine said he behaved completely normally.  Now don't you think he would have shown a lot of emotion having just dumped Madeleine's body?  He was seen after the alert looking around the pool by one of the waiters.  He was seen crying in the apartment on the floor after not finding Madeleine.  No sorry it does not work for me.  I believe CB had been watching 5a then once he thought a check had been done entered the apartment only to be disturbed by Gerry that is how Gerry found the door more open than how they had left it. Once |Gerry had left he opened the window incase he was interrupted again or to let fumes of ether or some other form of drug.  The twins were found lying in their cots with their bottoms in the air.  This to me shows they woke up when Madeleine was taken maybe they were given a small amount of sedative too.  He scoops Madeleine up and leaves the apartment.  I think it was CB that Jane saw.  I think he took her to the empty apartment maybe to wait until it got darker.   He then takes her to his van or his cottage.  Afterwards he takes her away somewhere.  I believe he sold her.

Why don't you believe Gerry? Why, despite him apparently looking at his watch & giving a very precise time of 10:03pm, why do you doubt him? He gave the exact time Kate left the table & he became worried about her lateness 10 minutes later.

There's simply no way to tell, but, look for the oddities. There's a major discrepancy in the time & details of Davids 6:30 visit so that might indicate something not right to an inquisitive detective.

I've said I've no idea. You're venturing into theory. Stick to evidence. I've presented mine. But I'm not seeing much evidence implicating Brueckner, that can account for the sighting by the Smith family though. Containers of laughing gas aside.
