On this forum we hear a lot of bluster from certain parties about the PJ not 'properly' searching for Madeleine, which  is not true.

Now, how many on here have actually searched for Madeleine, that does not include typing on a keyboard.

For the record, I haven't , just like the vast majority of people around the world. I don't recall any foreign newspapers recounting tales of people searching around the world.

The mccanns of course, had a brief 'search' the following morning following the disappearance, and that was that.

I must admit I never actually searched for Madeleine but then most people haven't.  If I recall at the time of her disappearance and in the early years afterwards, British and Irish tourists abroad were asked to keep an eye out for any child which might resemble her.  Thus why we have initial sightings all over the place including the Moroccan, Irish and Romano debacles.

There were and probably are people who have gone out and searched towns and villages, there are others who have used ground penetrating radar too but alas as we all now know, it was all in vain.

My own view is that there is only one hope for finding Madeleine and that is to appeal for information from those who might have been involved.  Searching these days is hopeless until and only if specific information is forthcoming.  I am also firmly of the view that Madeleine can be found in the Luz area.

As I said the only way anyone can search for Madeleine is to look out for look a likes with a fleck in the eye,  which I do whilst away on holiday.

Can you give me a link where it says the McCann's have stated that Madeleine was not searched for extensively when she went missing?

I have never said she wasn't searched for extensively when she went missing,  what I have said though is as soon as Amaral came up with his theory that Madeleine  died in the apartment,   sightings were not looked into,  people were told she was dead.

Madeleine by Kate McCann;

if there were any specific police searches overnight, they were not apparent. The only searches I was aware of were those carried out by ourselves, fellow guests and the Mark Warner staff.

Lagos Post Commander ordered searches for the child to take place and contacted officers who were at home, forming a force of nine officers who searched during the night and early morning.

2. At 02.00 they arrived at P da L and began searching with the Portimao sniffer dog teams, the terrain searches were extended until the morning with the dogs and officers on the scene, as well as the night guard and local people who volunteered to help in the searches that took place throughout the night.

3. During this nocturnal period, the searches took place along the entire perimeter of the OC, in the urban area, plots of land and the nearest buildings, the officers searching all the place where there was a possibility the child might be, this area being extended later to include all of the beach zone.

The McCann's give out a very good advice for when anyone was looking out for Madeleine,   not to approach the child,   but to contact police straight away.

If no one looked for a child whose picture is on a poster and is missing,  then there wouldn't be any found would there?   What is the point of putting up missing children posters if they didn't think it would help with the child being found.

good advice .......contact the police straight away .....so whoever they thought was maddie ...could be by then well gone

all these...so called sightings....AFAIR...not one took a picture [ mobile] ....or mentioned it to anyone around...often taking considerable time ..to even report it....and how did the media ..get hold of these story's ....like if it had of been true ...what danger did that put maddie in....nothing ...again ...to back anything up ...than the so called sighting.but was pushed forward ...by T M..regardless of the out come ...

maddie paid for all the mccs inexcusable choices ...even if u believe the abduction theory....the fund is the only thing they have been consistent with ....and pouring money into it.....oh ...and there reputation

as for the posters put up ....how maddie was supposed to be recognised ...at that ...[the most important time ]...speaks for itself ..it did not look like maddie as she was...you would have thought the Macs themselves ...would want the recentest photo possible ....but there you are ...the mccs were very slow on doing sensible things....apart from what suited there agenda....

I have never said she wasn't searched for extensively when she went missing,  what I have said though is as soon as Amaral came up with his theory that Madeleine  died in the apartment,   sightings were not looked into,  people were told she was dead.

now come on ......you dont know ...it wasn't looked into .or people stopped looking ...because maddie was dead.....i think if that the case ...they would have made that decision all by them selves....on what they knew

the mccs could have done one simple thing ....and took a lie detector ......to prove they had no involvement .....that to me ...would have proved beyond doubt of there innocence ....if they had passes it ...something you would have thought they would have done ...especially after........ TTOTL

as for keeping an eye out when abroad ....what or who would you exactly be looking for ....maddie ...aged three ....as that is only the photo that is mostly shown...

Even the age progression thing is years out of date.
Surprised it hasn't been updated as they certainly have sufficient funds to commission one.

that would be very logic.....if abduction had took place ...to appeal for anyone involved ......or might have been involved ....but wasn't it said ...the mccs would prosecute anyone involved in the abduction ...etc etc

so that rules out anyone who knows anything ....coming forward ....where as you would have thought ....anyone apart from abductor would have had immunity ...if it helped to find...or what happened to her.

Can't see how the McCanns would have the power or authority to prosecute anyone involved.

Madeleine may be found due to a tip off from say a neighbour,  teacher,  pupil of same school,  having seen a poster of Madeleine.

SY have said it is going to be updated when Madeleine is 13 next May.

Correct Jassi.  The perpetrator if found will face the full process of the law, no victim has a choice in whether or not prosecution for wrong doing takes place.

Yes, the McCann's felt alone during the night after Madeleine went missing,   they should have left a police officer with them.

Where does it say that the McCann's didn't think the PJ had done an extensive search for Madeleine?

There are plenty of articles quoting the McCann's thanking these people.

I wouldn't be able to identify Madeleine at this stage of the proceedings, and would be very surprised if anyone else could, even her family members. If she's alive she's either well hidden or completely integrated in another family with nothing to arouse anyone's suspicions.

How do you know you wouldn't be able to identify Madeleine?   she may look exactly as she does on the poster.
