Why ask a question then answer it yourself?
Even if we said we had you would argue the toss, that we hadn't.
Well I agree with Alice on this one.  For peace and tranquillity on the forum don't answer your own questions immediately.

Yet when I look at it again Alice seems to have done exactly the same.  Asked a question and then offered a type of answer.  Maybe we all make this mistake from time to time.

I didn't answer the question... Fact... So both you and Alice are wrong... I gave my opinion on what I thought  the answer would be.. Both you and Alice need to read the post again

Whatever, ask a question and don't give your opinion till later.  Let's try that.

I'm quite free to give my opinion at any time I choose..surely expressing an opinion is not outside the rules

It wasn't a rule but "For peace and tranquillity on the forum" as I said earlier.  Applies to everyone not just to you. even me!

Then if it isn't a rule it does not apply to anyone.. I think the forum is running very smoothly...

Not if what you do upsets Alice and makes her say things like this "Why ask a question then answer it yourself?
Even if we said we had you would argue the frigging toss, from a position of ignorance, that we hadn't.".

So has anyone who questions  the umms and errs in the transcripts ever seen another transcript... I feel the answer to my question will be no....

Is that an unacceptable  post

So I now must not post things which upset Alice... Even if they are within the rules... This is getting  a touch ridiculous

The point is... I didn't answer the question myself

Even if you had Davel there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking a rhetorical question ... there is a literary term for it (hypophora) ... the question itself is used either to deny or make a point and doesn't really require an answer since that is usually obvious when thought about logically.

In my opinion your use of the English language is just fine.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

I think the post by Alice was rude and goading yet you agree with it and have  reposted it

Did I say "must not"?  Sorry if I did, but is just a suggestion.

Well I thought you had even before Alice mentioned it.  OK it might be an opinion FGS think about the forum and how it works.

Will the post numbers do?  Sometimes I say "yesterday" when for you it might still be "today" depending on time zones.  I'm in Tuesday and you are still dealing with Monday.

I understand  how the forum works... My post was reasonable... And I don't see why you are making such a fuss about it
