A real possibility is another way of describing it.

Not really as there is nothing to support it.  IMO
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

There are many, many theories not just two or three.

Not in the real world... There is either parental involvement nor not... If not abduction ir woke and wandered.. That's it

Offline Mr Gray

There wasn't a DNA database in Portugal in 2007, so what do you run these samples against?

Against future suspects of course...

Offline Eleanor

That's not how it works. The trick is to prove that the abduction did happen, not that it didn't.

Only in your opinion, which is no better or worse than that of anyone else.

Yes in the real world there are other theories. Think of motive first! who and why would anyone remove MBM from that apartment.

Treatment of DNA did not and does not work like that in Portugal.

can you provide a cite ...surely dna collected from a crime scene could be checked against suspects in the future...without a cite your post is merely your opinion

Then it is about time they developed their systems better.

I really doubt sil is correct...portugal simply could not be so backward in its forensic science

The Portuguese National DNA database can include DNA profiles from: volunteers, unidentified corpses (for civil identification purposes), missing persons or their relatives, crime scene stains, persons convicted to not less than three years in prison, and laboratory and crime scene personnel who collect and analyze samples.

So OG was able to check DNA against the alleged 3 burglar arguidos of July 2014?

No, because DNA regulations don't work like that in Portugal.

I have made extensive posts about this on my blog.  I have no interest in doing a re-run.

You have provided no cite so it's opinion

You need to stick an IYO round your opinion.

I am not aware of any dissatisfaction with DNA regulations in Portugal.

And as you have provided no cite you need, an iyo around your post... Perhaps, Carana who is the accepted expert on Portuguese law will explain
