I don’t think that most of the examples I wrote was confined to the internet, in any case the hate arrived on the McCanns doorstep on a regular basis delivered there by the Royal Mail.  The McCanns may say they don’t read the internet and if they are sensible they don’t but I have no doubt they are well aware of most of the criticisms that are levelled against them.  Therefore my point stands - it’s hardly surprising and entirely forgiveable IMO if Kate appears defensive in her book.

Whatever. It's only your theory, after all. Her defensiveness could have occurred for completely different reasons, couldn't it?

I can’t imagine what Kate McCann was defensive about if not all the accusations levelled at her to do with mothering abilities, her integrity, her moral compass,  her actions on holiday, her beliefs, her appearance, her background - what did I leave out?

But unless you can prove it unequivocally it will not be accepted as probable.... However the slightest suspicion of wrongdoing by the McCann's is accepted as gospel by some

In my opinion you are perfectly capable of imagining what else Kate McCann might have been feeling defensive about.

Kates book did affect some readers who read it, as we see in the comments. At work I chose not to buy or read it ,but surprisingly, one of my colleagues who never spoke much about it but felt 'heart sorry' for the family as her daughter is 9 days older than MBM. one day she came in and we were discussing some of the contents of the book, to which she accused  a colleague of being disgusting. cut a long story short she was given s copy to read to check out for herself what we were discussing.

I can't disclose what she said when she came back on Monday shift! Suffice to say Kate persuaded her and her husband to not feel sorry for her or Gerry again.  They read more an more about it, I advised they come to this forum. They got the whole picture!

Nope, it’s pretty much all covered in my original post I think.

It would seem not for long going by their behaviour. She forgave the 'abductor. very quickly and  saw the Pope so I would assume she may have felt absolved of any blame. The Pope has that power you know, forgiveness at the highest level ,I mean this is GOD on earth we are told...

What a stunt! 8@??)(

It surprises me not that Kate's book, MADELEINE attracted a myriad of duff reviews just as it surprises me not to see a load of vitriol attached to anything in any media mentioning Madeleine and her family which allows comment.

Despite the adverse comments which I haven't bothered to read because I will guarantee they will just be the same old, same old ... Kate's book, MADELEINE achieved precisely what it was intended to ... and replenished the fund set up to pay for the search for Madeleine until the police took over.

Nice one Kate!!  Good luck, Madeleine!!

Oh B even her name has been took over - by a book yes nice one kmccann  haven't you done well.

those reviews do not represent the same old the same old

They are wrote from people who have read her account - not just some news paper article.

After all the shit she and her family had flung at them from day one I don’t think it’s massively surprising if Kate comes across as defensive at times, how could she not after all the things she has been accused of?  [comments removed]

Do you feel the same for gmccann or is it just kmccann.

You should also think about what maddie went through screaming for the parents that never came.

Torment of being apart from twins.

Unimaginable pain of being away from the things she loved

Distress and grief feeling of self worth loneliness

Not knowing why no one is there to comfort her in her hours of need, ect ect ect ect ect ect.

Maddie may never know what it is to wear earrings.

The mccanns have the opportunity to live a normal life - maddie never will imo
