This thread is so boring as to be beyond the bounds of reason.

The McCanns were totally traumatised and utterly unable to react normally, beyond taking some sort of care of the twins.  And please don't tell me that they didn't care.

So too traumatised to tell Fiona to get help for the twins but not too traumatised to locate a number and phone her friends at home ? I see !

Isn't it nice though? No name calling, no off topic posts, just debate within the rules.

I don't know how many times I've read posts saying that they were unable to think calmly because they were so traumatised, devastated, worried, frantic etc etc. It has been used as an excuse for their behaviour time after time.

You can't have your cake and eat it, they were either traumatised and non-functioning or able to separate themselves and react sensibly. Either way, they were 'very concerned' about the twins and still....did nothing.

I'm sure many would rather Kate had totally distanced herself from the crime scene by spending a few days at the hospital with the twins. What a branch that would have been to beat her with - proof that she didn't care about Madeleine at all. I don't think it's me who wants to have her cake & eat it.

None of her friends were told about her being 'very concerned' about the twins either, according to their statements.

So you think that the twins were in such an unresponsive state that it would necessitate a few days stay in hospital ? Now that is interesting.

If the Portuguese medical system works as slowly as the justice system, I'm sure it would have been a week before the necessary tests & paperwork had been completed. Their Social Services may have needed to get involved, too.
So, yes, 2 days minimum.

I've been treated in both  Portuguese and UK hospitals and have found the Portuguese hospitals to be by far the most efficient.

BTW why do you think the Portuguese social services would need to become involved ?

I'm sure this thread was seen as a chance to beat the PJ (particularly Amaral of course). It hasn't turned out that way though, has it? The only people who were 'very concerned' about the twins were the parents. They didn't do anything about it because..........they were too traumatised or they were able to assess the situation calmly due to their medical training. Choose either explanation but the fact remains they did nothing about their concerns for almost five months. When they did do something Kate was pleased that the tests were inconclusive because no-one could prove that the twins had been sedated. So from telling people she was sure they had been she ends up pleased that it can't be proved that they were. How strange.

that is probably because portuguese hospitals are staffed by portuguese doctors and are not overun by patients from all over the world and doctors who have qualified all over the world

Are you sure you're not mistaking "pleasure" for "relief"?
Imagine that the tests had come back positive for, say, benzodiazepines. That would have raised more questions & much more suspicion that the parents were somehow involved. Syringes with fingerprints on may have been miraculously discovered buried in the garden.
I think it was clear during the next few days that the twins were OK. I defy you to say that you'd have disappeared off to the hospital & left your husband to deal with the unfolding situation.
Once again - the fact that the investigating officers chose to neglect this aspect is merely another addition to the list in the catalogue of failures.

So are you saying that the McCanns didn't have the twins tested for drugs just in case drugs had been found ? Do you realise how ridiculous that sounds misty ?

As to Kate letting Gerry cope with the unfolding situation, isn't that what she did anyway by sitting in the room praying and phoning all night ?

The McCanns asked for specialist dogs, Faithlilly, well before Harrison/Grime got involved - and we all know what happened as a result of that.
The delays by the PJ in action & reaction to situations were the root of many of the problems. I'm just amazed you don't share that view.

So you are saying that the McCanns didn't have the twins tested for drugs just in case any had been found. I thought you couldn't possibly be claiming such a ridiculous, and dangerous, thing but it's possible you are right. Of course the McCanns would have to have known they were there in the first place.

Perhaps you could furnish us with a cite for your claim that  'the McCanns asked for specialist dogs before Harrison/Grime got involved' ?
