10 out of 10 for the McCann parents, if you believe all you have posted.
But with the 10th anniversary approaching, what is the smart McCann-parent move?
Around the 2nd anniversary, it was billboards and posters. Which obviously did not work.
Something smarter is needed on the 10th, methinks.
I don't know exactly what would be an appropriate public response to make to the ten years since Madeleine was discovered to be missing from her bed.
Nor do I think there is any 'smart' move for Madeleine's parents to make on the approach to ~ on the day of ~ and the days and perhaps years following ~ the tenth anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance.
Madeleine's case was archived in July 2008 because of ...
"lack of evidence that any crime was committed by the persons placed under formal investigation." Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro, Portuguese Attorney Generalhttp://content.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1825242,00.htmlImmediately prior to the shelving of what appears to have been an investigation concentrating on proving parental guilt and not on locating Madeleine ... and until her parents were able to convince the authorities to review her case ... no-one was looking for Madeleine McCann.
The situation has now changed and does not reflect a situation in which no-one in authority neither here nor in Portugal was taking the bother to keep her case going.
Indeed, had it not been for the revelation at the libel trial that incoming information to the shelved inquiry was being filed as 'not relevant' ... Ricardo Paiva's testimony in 2010 ... the true extent of the continuing negligence might never have reached the public domain.
The present ~ active ~ investigation appears to be concentrating efforts on Madeleine and strangers to her and her family.
We have absolutely no idea what their continuing lines of inquiry may or may not be. But you can be sure Madeleine's parents are in the loop.
Therefore, perhaps a low key flower type ceremony in Luz just to mark the occasion, organised by residents with invited guests representing the Policia Judiciaria and Scotland Yard might be the way forward in showing the residents of Portugal that there is co-operation between the law enforcement agencies, verifying that the McCanns are very much in the clear.
Who knows ... something like that assurance could bring results in encouraging people to come forward who didn't before.
