Nobody is interested in the failures of 2007 to solve Madeleine's case.
The interest now lies in where "the critical lead" has the potential to correct those failures in the initial investigation.
The shelving in 2008 is absolutely nothing to crow about ... it was not a triumph ... it was an admission of defeat which spectacularly let Madeleine McCann down very badly indeed.
In my opinion the shelving of her case was officially and disgracefully writing her off and abandoning her to her fate without a care in the world about what that might be.
As proved by the present inquiry ... there were many investigative avenues which could have and should have been investigated back in 2007.
They could have been and should have been. The question is ... why weren't they?
Sorry, I must have misread the archiving report.
Did it say there were lots of investigative avenues remaining?
The one I remember was along the lines of nothing further to investigate 'cos we are blocked on a reconstruction.
