I was a bit closer than just looking it up.
The reason I bring it up is that the body was stored in a freezer or maybe a Letchworth Bacon Factory refrigerated truck. Which rather shows up those who have consistently ridiculed the idea of bodies put in freezers.

Of course bodies of little girls aged nearly 4 carrying tennis balls in a case where the SIO is a Portuguese with initials GA. That  might be different.
However the principle of bodies in freezers and "doing simple tasks in faraway places" are well established.
No one is ridiculing the concept of bodies put in freezers just as  I’m sure you don’t ridicule the concept of strangers entering buildings and taking children, do you??  In this case however I have raised some of the difficulties facing anyone wishing to freeze a child’s body at short notice, whilst on holiday in a foreign country, under the eyes of the police and media.  I’m sure it’s not impossible but what odds would you give it as the solution to this case.?

This happened on 4 May 2007 - receiving phones or anything else they required from friends in the Algarve.

I spoke, I did speak to the other, the friends of Simon ALDRIDGE’S who you know who kindly bought the phones and they actually bought the phones to the Portimão Police Station and I went downstairs and got the phones and then err brought them back upstairs. Err in terms of you know whether I, we spoke to them on the next day sorry, was that the question?”

See your post 73 - couldn't get it at short notice. That happened on 4 May. How do you know what they could or couldn't get at short notice?

**Reminder**

John posted recently that it is preferable if members quote the link when quoting posts rather than the number.

#73 might not always be #73 when the thread is edited as other posts might be deleted, but it will always be http://miscarriageofjustice.co/index.php?topic=9753.msg471176#msg471176

In my opinion it also makes the reference more convenient to find.   8((()*/

This was David Payne you’ve quoted isn’t it?  So it’s possible David Payne asked friends in Portugal if the McCanns could borrow a freezer the day after their daughter went missing?  Right-o.

You wouldn't have to ask for a freezer. Most apartments already have a fridge or a freezer.

Do do mean the small freezer compartment attached to most fridges?  Or are you thinking of a stand alone chest freezer?

Personally, I am not that interested in how the McCanns may have found a freezer, instead I wonder why:

If they only had a 1.5 hour window together after her “accidental death” - why didn’t they try to buy themselves more time?   They needed to hide a body without a car, come to terms with grief, develop a strategy/story for police, deal with possible animosity if only one was responsible for her death, get two toddlers to sleep, shower and dress themselves for dinner - yet they arrived first for dinner and didn’t even sit next to each other or directly opposite one another to maintain better eye contact, whilst their “plan” unfolded.

Surely, "buying time" would have been easy considering the rest of the group's time keeping plus the fact that both adults and children from the group had all come down with a tummy bug that week.  I would have thought that if one had stayed home "sick", they could have used the whole night to formulate a plan, hide her body properly and fake an overnight "break in".  (Which incidentally would have helped lessen emphasis on their dinner childcare arrangements)

Then there is cuddle cat and the pink blanket. Why were both left in the apartment? If my husband or I had just accidentally killed our daughter, I know we would both be mortified to hide our tiny child’s body on a cold night without feeling an innate need to “comfort” that child.  (In fact, most crimes committed by family or someone loved by the perpetrator usually stand out because of the dignity given to someone’s burial or disposal).

I also watched one of the dog videos where the handler moved the toy from one place to another - which became so tiresome that even I felt like barking at my screen...just to make it all end.  So why, if it is standard practice not to be allowed to “lead a witness” in court,  is a handler allowed to “lead” a sniffer dog?

Anyhow, as peculiar as I find some of McCanns behaviour, I can’t see how anyone could kill their child - then an hour or so later turn up to a dinner party….  Then spend the following day dealing with police and media - all whilst trying to locate a fridge freezer for their dead child's body.  It all seems very far fetched to me.

Empty holiday apartments not used all year round for example would be fitted with amenities.

Did these friends of friends have one though?  How easy is it to gain access to an empty apartment and move in a dead body after you’ve drawn police and media attention to yourself?  Presumably you believe Smithman went back to the place he dumped the body to retrieve it - but when?  Before or after getting the keys to this mysterious empty apartment?  Didn’t the owners of said mysterious apartment not think it odd that no one actually stayed in it?

Owner might have been abroad and only used it part-time , leaving the keys in the care of others - an estate agent for example.

So now we have an estate agent involved who didn’t see fit to question why this (by now) world famous couple needed a spare apartment they didn’t live in, nor to mention it to the police when they were made arguidos.  Anything to keep the freezer fantasy alive I guess!
