That explains the outrage 10 days ago, on the evening that Gerry and Kate McCann were declared formal suspects, or arguidos, in the disappearance of their daughter. Police were still questioning Gerry McCann when, already, his sister Philomena was telling Sky they had offered Kate McCann a reduced two-year sentence if she admitted to killing her daughter accidentally, hiding the body and then secretly disposing of it weeks later.

On this occasion the police officers were right to be angry. Like many things said about the McCann affair over the past days and months, the story was wrong. There was no offer of a plea bargain. It had all been "a misunderstanding", the McCann lawyer, Carlos Pinto de Abreu, explained the following day.

Is that in accordance with her arguida interview?
What do you mean exactly?  This was the interrogation conduted by Paiva immediately preceding her arguid interview, if that helps?

Cite for her own lawyer denied it

Philomena McCann said;

 "They tried to get Kate to confess to having accidentally killed Madeleine by offering her a deal through her lawyer,

Maybe they did, but Amaral's claim about the files appears to be correct.

Did the police not tell Kate that admitting to the crime of hiding a body would only get her two years in prison? Again, not an unusual police tactic as far as I can gather...

Yes perhaps when the PJ said if she admiited a lesser crime she would only get two years... It was an explanation..... That's, where the misunderstanding  was

From personal experience even lawyers can be wrong.  So when Kate's lawyer is saying it was a misunderstanding he is admitting it  was he who misunderstood the situation IMO.

Who made the offer?  Describe how you think the situation played out?

In most people’s view that means he denied it.

The PJ explained  that if Kate plraded guilty to hiding Maddie after an accident she would only get 2 years... But if she didn't and was found guilt  of a more serious crime she could get a lot longer... It was, a bluff

They are facts.  You would get a longer sentence for one compared to the other.

If you can find evidence in the files that the PJ bluffed in their interviews let's see it.
