The statement posted on Pinterest DOES say that Sheila had contemplated suicide.

I imagine Helen would have had an adult with her when making her statement, as she was only 13, and perhaps her statement did take the form of answering questions put to her, I have no idea.  However, I'm sure she would have remembered what Sheila had said to her.

Are you honestly suggesting that if anyone says that Sheila smoked cannabis or contemplated suicide, then that person is "tarnishing a murder victim"???  I don't know whether Sheila was a murder victim, or whether she killed her family because she was too ill to be responsible for her actions, but I do believe that yes, she thought of suicide and smoked cannabis. I don't know whether she did it once or more than once, but I have certainly read that she did.  Nobody is telling "vile lies".

Please leave the nasty, personal remarks out of your posts, or they will be deleted-------I thought you would have realised this by now.

She would have remembered what Sheila had said 6 months previous?

IMO, quite possibly, if she had been disturbed by it.

Thanks for the permission! Of course all of the statements are evidence - when did I suggest they weren't? Ann Eaton reported that he knew how much was in the wallet. I'm surprised you haven't read her statement!

As to you last comment ......... and?

I wonder how Ann knew this.

I have an uneasy feeling about the 13 year old having a conversation with Sheila with the subject matter being about suicide. Is there a transcript of this anywhere?
I am trying to visualize why that subject would come into a conversation with a child/teenager.

There's a discrepancy here, though. It appears to me -although I'm prepared to be wrong- that G-Unit is suggesting that Sheila had implied that she'd wanted to commit suicide. There's a vast difference between thinking about any act and being desirous of committing it. There is also a vast difference between Sheila once having thought about suicide and currently thinking about. A point which G-Unit hasn't examined. I'd also suggest that had she chain-smoked cannabis for the best part of an hour, she may well have been asleep by the end of it.

Whether Helen remembered exactly what Sheila had said, given her age, is questionable. It would have been easy enough to make suggestions to a young and impressionable girl, or paraphrase what she said until it fitted with the way they wanted it to sound.

Who would want to influence Helen's statement?

On Monday 12th August Ann invited Jeremy to White House Farm for coffee. She kept a record on note cards and mentions Jeremy asking about Nevill's wallet on them. She also says immediately after "Dad and I almost felt guilty". I wonder why?

AE knew because he said it to her. After the murders, Jeremy was apprehensive to return to WHF. One afternoon, AE rang Jeremy and suggested he should come over and basically get it over with. He seemed nervous and anxious at first but she showed him around explaining what happened where (I'm sure he could have conducted a better tour on that score ....... anyway). They returned to the kitchen and Jeremy relaxed - he relaxed so much, he went back upstairs on his own and came running down complaining that his dads wallet was gone.

There is a full statement on the blue forum Re:Helen G and there is no real explanation about how such a conversation came about. Interestingly, it was taken a few weeks after Bamber was arrested and it was taken in the girls home, I am wondering if the statement was part of the defence case as at that point, the police had no reason to pursue a case against Sheila

Because they had collected valuables to give to the solicitor, the wallet was one of them. AE found the wallet because they were looking for valuables, Jeremy knew where it was and what it contained and this was his first visit to the farm since before the murders.

Basil Cock mentions in his w/s an amount found in Mrs Bamber's purse, but not anything about Mr Bamber's wallet.

I recall reading that Helen and Sheila were alone in the house at the time of the conversation. Perhaps Sheila just wanted to talk to someone; she could well have felt lonely at the farm, away from her friends.

Actually, it sounded, to me, more like musings, than conversation. The sort of thing a client will say to a counselor. We know it helps to hear our thoughts expressed. It gives clarification. I think this may have been what Sheila was doing. I can't see what she'd have had in common with Helen to have a two way dialogue with her.

His wallet is listed on one of the exhibit lists. I'm not sure what you're getting at? Bamber went straight for the wallet after returning to WHF and asked about it's contents, he then called the police (specifically DS Jones to ask where it went). There is no way he should have known what was in the wallet, or where it was.

Caroline, just playing the devils advocate here, could Jeremy have witnessed the transaction where Nevill received that sum in cash? Perhaps he recently sold a plough or some butter or something in his son’s presence?

Then why didn't he say so when I asked him? Why avoid the question? Then totally deny he said it? I should also mention that he slipped up and told me he asked about the wallet in a separate letter.

The point is, that he knew where the wallet should be and when he couldn't find it 'there' he didn't look anywhere else. How did he know that Nevill didn't leave it in the kitchen or in the safe? He went to one place and immediately knew it was missing. He totally ignored the question when I first asked, he said he didn't remember the question when I asked again and gave an evasive answer the second time (I didn't or no) but then on reading through his letters (looking for something else), I found that he had made reference to looking for the wallet. Finally, in his final letters he gave two excuses for not answering the question - the first that he didn't remember the question and gave the best answer he could, the second was that he didn't the the question was important. Make you own mind up but I know he was squirming around the question from the off.

I agree, and it would be very much in keeping with his previous form for greed and entitlement to sneak a look at Nevills wallet.
