What is interesting to me is that those who have supported the McCanns have spent years castigating sceptics for suggesting that Madeleine might be dead. Insisting (like her parents) that there was no evidence that she was dead.
Saying that Operation Grange were searching for her (someone even suggested they knew where she was and had her under surveillance).
Then a German prosecutor says she was murdered and not a word of protest is heard. Even the fact that he did so (imo) without preparing Madeleine's parents is accepted. Suddenly their feelings are of no importance. There are a few suggestions that the Germans might be wrong and the child might still be alive, but not many.
It's like the supporters knew deep down that the child died, and that they thought the parents knew too, despite years of denial imo.
And throughout all those years the one constant that Madeleine had was her parents who never gave up on her for a second and whose efforts might yet lead to answer what became of her.
The current investigation stems in large part from their appearance on German television looking for information and answers
It paid off perhaps not with the information they had hoped for but until the investigation goes as far as it can Madeleine's case certainly is not over yet.
