Sources with knowledge of his recent prison interview, which was carried out by German authorities acting on behalf of their Portuguese colleagues, say that throughout the barrage of probing questions, Brueckner exercised his right to remain silent.

He was then handed a document informing him that he’d been made an ‘arguido’ — a Portuguese legal designation which elevates a witness to the status of official suspect and is usually a precursor to charges being laid.

It was the first time Brueckner, who has at least 17 prior convictions for an array of grisly crimes, has faced official questions about Madeleine, one of several small girls whose disappearance he’s been linked to in recent years.

Members can exercise their right to believe or not what the tabloids are saying.  Some did get it wrong in printing he had been charged when the news about his status became known.
Got to pick and mix I think and I have seen it corroborated elsewhere that he is an arguido and that he was questioned by BKA on behalf of their Portuguese opposite numbers.

In fact didn't Davel comment how cleverly that had been accomplished by the BKA as the process left their investigation intact without the necessity of revealing their evidence.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Or fifteen yrs even.

It started on 4th May 2007 with the headline in the Portuguese press "A Badly Told Story" to start off the years of slurs against Madeleine's parents.

It will continue, and we have seen that already, whether or not Brueckner graduates from Arguido to Conviction

Under Portuguese law witnesses don't have the right to silence, they are legally bound to cooperate with the police. So the questioning wasn't requested by the Portuguese if it took place before he was informed of his arguido status.

Do you still think there no confirmation of him being questioned.

Several possibilities.. ..the important thing is he's been questioned

You are making more assumptions. Pj could have requested him being interviewed as a, witness.
Witnesses can refuse to amswer questions

Isn't that what happened?
I would have thought so,
It certainly was the process followed for Kate.  She had lengthy questioning as a witness when it should be noted she answered ALL questions put to her.  She exercised her right to silence only when made a suspect - as was her lawful right.

Brueckner seems not to have answered as a witness which I think breaches the law; but there you are then, he's no stranger to doing that.

CB can refuse to answer questions as a witness.. No one can force him.... What can they do if he refuses

Brueckner is under German jurisdiction, so German rules will apply
Portuguese posturing counts for nothing as long as he remains in Germany

Yes they do, but it won't change things legally,
If you recall, many years ago when OG was active in Portugal, they were prevented from certani activities because it went against Portuguese law.. Same thing will apply here.

Imo Portugal can continue to investigate CB after 3rd May, and that's all they have achieved.
