Testing months after the event was a useless and futile exercise as God knows how many medicines the children would have been treated with by then.  If Maddie was the child being carried by Tannerman or Smithman then all they had to do was apply a chloroform or similar substance soaked cloth over her mouth for a few seconds and then reapply thereafter when necessary.

Now now, let's not get exasperated. Were the PJ in meltdown? That's who I was talking about. Unless police always test remaining children for sedation why would the PJ test the twins?

Why did Amaral mention testing the twins in his book?

they say never judge a book by its cover .....

the book IMO was a cover .....to ...tidy up [as she thought ] ....all the things she needed to give innocent explanations for ...like it works on you ...as in ..why would she bring it up ....that was the whole point of the book ..it was in her words ...it was about her ...not maddie ..

all in her words ....just the same as the abduction ...her word only.....

Kate hadn't written her book when she brought up the possibility of drug use with the PJ in May 2007- so I don't see the relevance to my point that if the McCanns had sedated the children - they would not have wanted to say anything which would draw attention to it and risk being discovered.   To do so voluntarily when they had no need to would mean they were very stupid people IMO.

However, with regard to your opinion of why she wrote her book - imo her book would have to be crammed full of lies and disinformation for it to have been written for the purpose you claim.   The fact that not one of the huge amount of people she mentions in her ' innocent explanations'' to provide what you think is a cover up - have disputed, or complained, or sued her over the book's content should tell you something imo.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

It wasn't useless and futile,  if there is enough hair, and Amelie's hair was long enough, drugs can be found months later.

I think that would be  the type of sedation used too,  Chloroform,   he could even have waved it in front of the twins noses.  The twins were sleeping in a crouched position,  on their front with knees drawn up,  although I know some children sleep like this normally,  it could be that the twins woke up,  had something waved in front of their noses and both slumped down into that position, just a tiny bit to make them sleep for a bit.

Such a small amount of chloroform would never show up in hair testing.

The book was written as most books are, including Mr Amaral's, to make money.

the difference is ....kmccs bok was as i said ....in her words ...about herself...

G A book was wrote from the police files ....he was a detective

everything the mccs do ....is about money...............or involves money ...

i wouldn't even rule out them appearing one day ...on cbb or I'm a celebrity .....seeing the fund is getting so low ....and they are running out of options

most people are sick to the back teeth of them ....and there poor us ...attitude...

its ruined G A  life ...its ruined maddies life.............fact.......

don't happily do something ....and then blame everyone else when it goes wrong...

as for sedatives ....its a bit late ...3 month later ....to prove to everyone they wasn't drugged.

they care more about what people think .....than maddie or the twins safety ....

if they had have been drugged ....that night should have been the night for concern .....but obviously they wasn't .......but what is so obvious ...al they care about is themselves ...oh ...and the fund

The book spoke about Madeleine,  then went on through Kate's eyes to explain the events following her disappearance.    Strange book it would have been if it just focused on Madeleine,  as Kate didn't know who had taken her where to or what was happening to her,  so how could she have written a book solely based on Madeleine?   The money from this book was put into the Find Madeleine Fund to help to find her.

Amaral wrote his book based on his own theory.   In my opinion,  he was a  annoyed to have been taken off the case,  he was so sure he was right he wanted everyone to know it had been he who had the theory of what happened to Madeleine.    He even had a video where he proudly explains his theory about what   had happened,  but to him it wasn't what MIGHT have happened it was what DID happen at the start of the video it says,  let us show you what really happened.

Amaral misunderstood the Forensic evidence,  he claimed there was 100% DNA found in the car,  when in actual fact what was found was a soup of three even five people,    which could not be separated up they were unable to get a result from it.   Bear in mind the car was a rental car which had been used by many other people before the McCann's.

Amaral says that the McCann's moved Madeleine from the first hiding place,  placed her in the car and took her somewhere else.   Why would the McCann's move Madeleine when no one had been able to find her?   When would they have done that when the world and his mate was watching?

Amaral's money from his book went straight into his bank account,  he lived like a star,  preening himself and signing autographs,  bought a new car and had a glittery earring,   give many interviews and was very proud of himself.

It has ruined Amaral's life you say,  well would you have allowed someone to write a book about you claiming what Amaral claimed?    Telling the world that you drugged your children,  hid your daughters body and put on an act of pretending there had been an abduction?    You would allow that would you?

it wasn't too late for hair samples,   drugs can be found months later.

You keep saying all they care about is themselves,  then why keep Madeleine's  name and face in the public eye for going on for nine years?    They could have let the case disappear,  they didn't,  they got a petition for a review,  then an investigation.   Why do that if they only thought about themselves?   Why put up with the people who taunt and accuse them,  when they could let the case lie and just go about their lives without dwelling on Madeleine  in public?

I can only assume that anyone who believes that Amaral didn't lie about - and/or  grossly distort the information in the files, either hasn't read his book or they haven't read the files.

However, I think we are veering off topic - so I won't list the downright lies, half lies, lies by omission, and spiteful innuendo which litter his book from beginning to end on  here.

On  the  night  Madeleine  was  taken,  you  may remember,  Gerry and  I had  been very concerned  that Sean  and  Amelie  had  hardly  moved  in  their  cots,  let alone  woken  up,  despite the  commotion in the apartment.  Since  Madeleine  was  snatched apparently  without  making  a  sound,  we  had  always suspected that all three  children  might  have  been sedated  by  the  abductor.  We  mentioned  this  to  the police  that  night  and  several  more  times  in  the folowing  weeks,  but  no  testing  of  urine,  blood  or hair,  which  could  have  revealed  the  presence  of drugs,  had  ever  been  done.  Apparently,  hair  grows at  a  rate  of  approximately  1cm  per  month,  so  it  was possible  that  hair  samples  taken  even  four  months later  could  provide  us  with  additional  information.  It was  worth  a  shot,  at  least.  I asked  for  samples  of  my own hair to be taken as well simply  because  I  was fed  up  with  the  constant  insinuations  that  I  took tranquilizers, sleeping pills  or  any  medication,  for that  matter. The process seemed to take ages and we all  lost loads  of  hair.  I  couldn’t  believe  they  had  to  take  so much.  The  scientist  cut  chunks  of  it  from  Sean  and Amelie’s  heads  while  they  were  sleeping.  I cried  as  I heard  the  scissors  in  their  baby-blond  hair.  I  felt angry  that  the  children  had  to  go  through  this  further insult.  As  for  me,  I  looked  as  if  I  had  alopecia.Though  I  cursed  the  abductor  and  the  PJ,  I  had bigger  things  to  worry about. All the  hair  samples  produced  negative  results. While this didn’t totally  exclude  the  possibility  that  the children had been sedated, especialy given the  time that  had  elapsed,  it  meant  nobody else  (including  the PJ  and  the  media)  could  prove  otherwise.  It  also confirmed  that  I didn’t  ‘abuse’  sedative  medication.  It is  sad  that  we  had  to  go  to  such  lengths  to demonstrate this; sadder still  that  such  tests  weren’t carried  out  at  the  time.

now who's fault is this .......

It is  sad  that  we  had  to  go  to  such  lengths  to demonstrate this; sadder still  that  such  tests  weren’t carried  out  at  the  time.

as it was said earlier ....there is no proof of any of this ......

but notice the reasons given for it......basically an attempt ..to give her unproven explanation ....and to shut the media up....

not .....any of it ...for the twins safety .....and as for being angry for what she put them them through ...wellll..

poor maddie .... ...what did she put her through............

and what of the content of the mccann book Benice ?

There is distinct spite in that.  Not even counting the disturbing imagery on that certain page. Remembering of course at some point the other children could read that.

Let's not forget either how this case started.

I believe Goncalo Amaral's life was a bit of a car crash before the McCann family ever set foot in Portugal.

He could have written a different book about Madeleine's case.  One in which he did not breach her parents' right to the presumption of innocence and one which did not breach his obligation as a public official.
Very soon we can expect the verdict of the appeal court on that ... and if his appeal is dismissed he can only be viewed as the architect of his own misfortune.

Of course Madeleine's parents care about ... "the fund".
It was all that stood against oblivion for Madeleine ... and keeping Madeleine in the public consciousness until the authorities could be persuaded to reopen the investigation into her case.

Since everyone pays lip service to "justice for Madeleine" ... why is the fund seen as such an enemy by some? ... it was not only set up to say but to do and in doing so has been a greater success than all the FOIs ~ all the leaflets ~ all the petitions ~ all the hate filled blogs ~ all the videos ~ all the twitters ~ put together.

If "justice for Madeleine" was not just a public mission statement for the target audience and not really the main aim it is surely called into question by obsessing about the monetary vehicle which has been successfully utilised to do just that.

The fund financed keeping Madeleine in the public consciousness.
The fund financed the continued search for Madeleine.

There are limitations to what the victims of a crime are capable of achieving.  Particularly minutes and hours into the life shattering blow of the disappearance of their precious daughter and while in effect the crime is ongoing.

They are very much in the hands of the investigators who can be presumed to know what they are doing.
Unfortunately the police team tasked with investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann had little experience of child protection, if any.
Which may go some way to explanation of the numerous elementary errors they made ... only one of which was the failure to have the twins checked.  A procedure which could have been carried out discretely in a short time scale and would have eliminated one possibility, which is what a competent investigation would have been interested in doing.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

What do you think the mccanns have been doing ?

As far as I can see Stephen,  apart from trying to get Madeleine's face on posters in the countries where they thought Madeleine could have been taken,   seeing the Pope who asked to see them,  going to America to promote the Amber alert.   They are living much the same as they did before Madeleine went missing,  no reports of them buying flashy cars on signing autographs.

That is a matter of opinion.

One only has to look at gerry mccanns face to see how much he enjoys being in the public eye.

So how did seeing the Pope help in their 'search' ?
