The only way you can know why Gerry did this is if he told you.  Has he?  How can you definitively rule out any of the other explanations I have given for the discrepancy?  Do you think it would be smarter of me to simply accept everything you say or to question the logic you have used to come to your conclusions?

No it isn't. Assess the available evidence, find the most simple explanation. Which is, alarm raised before 10pm, Gerry seen by the Smiths. That is why Gerry changed his times. There's no other reason.

Your opinion does not count as verifiable evidence, please try again.

Evidence is evidence. I can verify the McCanns did it, firstly because the evidence suggests they did, & secondly, because they definitely did it.

Gerry wasn't. It's just the times were wrong. That's the thing. You never read the statements until finally prompted.
Which times were wrong?  All the ones apart from your key suspect's who decided to tell the truth and therefore blow his own alibi?

So, despite the fact that you agree witness statements are unreliable, and despite the fact that it was dark and only a fleeting few seconds, and that the witness statements not only conflicted but  were given weeks and months later you still believe that on this occasion they were accurate.  Can you explain why you believe this?

Because Madeleine wasn't abducted.

Firstly, the evidence does no such thing and secondly that's your opinion not a proven fact.

Gerry gave a very specific 10:03pm. That precise time must have been important to him. It's important to him because that's the time he was seen carrying his dead daughter away.

No. It's a fact that Madeleine wasn't abducted, because the McCanns did it.

Either Madeleine was abducted by the Gerrylike trousers pyjama change paedo, or the McCanns did it. There are no other possibilities when we account for the Smith family testimony & the official police reconstruction.

He only mentioned that time once I believe, if it was so important to him he would have hammered it home in interviews, on Crimewatch, at every opportunity.  But if he had said 10pm or 10.05pm it wouldn't have made much difference.  Everyone else at the table said it was around that time, so I guess they're all in on the plot.

Yes there are other possibilities.  For one, the Smith statements may not have been wholly accurate in every part.  Indeed, they contradict each other and were given weeks after the fleeting glimpse so it is highly likely that their statements were not fully accurate in all respects.  If they were not accurate then that means it could have been an abductor or an innocent father carrying his child home.  The police even considered this possibility in their Crimewatch reconstruction as they hoped someone would come forward to be eliminated.
